Non-QM Underwriter

Must have at least [4] years of mortgage underwriting experience, including specific expertise in non-QM loan products We are looking for an experienced Non-QM (Non-Qualified Mortgage) Underwriter to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of underwriting non-QM loans, ensuring compliance with company guidelines and industry regulations while supporting the needs of borrowers who do not meet traditional mortgage standards. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with the ability to assess complex income documentation, analyze risk, and make informed underwriting decisions. Key Responsibilities Review and evaluate loan applications, including credit, income, assets, and property details, to determine borrower eligibility for non-QM loans. Analyze complex financial information, including alternative documentation types (e.g., bank statements, asset depletion, and debt service coverage). Assess risk and make sound underwriting decisions in accordance with company guidelines and applicable regulations. Work collaboratively with loan officers, processors, and other team members to obtain additional information or documentation needed for underwriting. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of non-QM lending products and stay updated on industry trends and changes in regulations. Ensure timely and efficient processing of loan files to meet closing deadlines. Provide clear and accurate feedback on loan conditions and communicate effectively with internal teams to resolve any outstanding issues. Assist in developing and updating underwriting policies and procedures specific to non-QM products. Deliver exceptional customer service by responding promptly to inquiries and providing expert guidance. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field preferred. Minimum of [ 4 ] years of mortgage underwriting experience, with specific expertise in non-QM loan products. Thorough knowledge of mortgage lending guidelines, including non-QM product types and alternative documentation methods. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in mortgage software systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple files simultaneously. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proven problem-solving capabilities and the ability to make decisions with confidence.
