North America Missional Practitioner

We all want to see a vibrant, growing missional movement, but in reality, organizational systems often create bottlenecks that hinder us from becoming fully movemental. Communitas North America's hope is to provide several pathways to belonging on a shared journey, building relevant relationships as traveling companions. These relationships expand opportunities for connectedness and deepen each other's missional impact. Our Pathways to Belonging is designed to help you and your Communitas contact discern what this kind of relationship might look like.

As an organization, we hold to the belief that all Christ-followers are called to mission and so we all must go—but we are not all going the same distance, nor do we need the same resources and support to get ‘there.’ Just as the disciples were sent to “Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and the ends of the earth,” (Acts 1:8) we too are sent near and far. It’s all mission. It all matters. And we’re all part of the movement. Communitas North America’s desire is to catalyze movement—to maximize the strengths, wisdom, and gifts of others, and to support, empower, and grow together. We believe this defines healthy relationships within an organization, which is essential for healthy missional impact in the world.

Relationship is the key word here. Every relationship is different, but all relationships have a beginning. Our Pathways to Belonging represents an opportunity to begin a relationship. It is not a finite picture of what it will become since healthy relationships grow and develop over time—it is merely the first step on a shared path.

Perhaps you’ve been a missional pioneer for decades, or maybe you are just beginning to move from imagination to action. You may be a career person who doesn't see yourself raising support as a missionary, but you still sense a call to a mission. You may be sensing a call to move abroad someday or you may know you are called to your hometown.
