Role Description The NYSC Associate Lawyer role is a full-time hybrid position based in Lagos State, Nigeria, with some work-from-home flexibility. The associate will support senior lawyers in corporate and commercial transactions, including legal research, drafting and reviewing contracts, and preparing legal opinions and memoranda. Daily responsibilities include assisting with capital markets and financial law matters, participating in due diligence exercises, and helping to prepare documentation for regulatory filings and client transactions. The associate will attend meetings, support client communication, and contribute to case management and internal knowledge resources. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, complying with firm procedures, and engaging in continuous learning to develop strong professional skills.

Qualifications

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret statutes, regulations, and case law.
  • Proficiency in legal drafting and review, including contracts, opinions, memoranda, and transaction documentation.
  • Knowledge or interest in corporate and commercial law, financial law, and capital markets practice.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with attention to clarity, structure, and professional tone.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team, manage time effectively, and adapt to a hybrid work environment.
  • LL.B from a recognized university and completion of Nigerian Law School; NYSC participant or eligible for NYSC placement.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to learning and career development.
  • Proficiency with common office productivity tools and legal research platforms; prior internship experience in corporate/commercial law is an advantage.
