Occupational Therapist

Company Description Diverse Capacity Builders, based in Geraldton in the Mid West region of Western Australia, provides tailored services that empower people with disabilities to build capacity and independence. The organization operates within the NDIS framework and is supported by a team of qualified, accredited professionals. Led by experienced social worker Jacqueline Law, the team brings strong expertise in mental health support, disability support, and family services. Core services include NDIS support coordination (Levels 2 and 3), psychosocial recovery coaching, and counselling, delivered with a person-centered and inclusive approach.

Role Description The Occupational Therapist will work full time in a hybrid capacity, based in Geraldton, WA, with some opportunities to work from home depending on client and service needs. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing clients’ functional abilities, developing and implementing individualized intervention plans, and providing evidence-based occupational therapy to support independence in daily living, community participation, and meaningful activities. The role involves collaborating with clients, families, carers, and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate NDIS-funded supports, document progress, and prepare professional reports and recommendations. The Occupational Therapist will conduct home and community visits, deliver rehabilitation programs, and contribute to psychosocial recovery planning, while maintaining accurate clinical records and adhering to relevant professional and NDIS standards.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation, with the ability to design and deliver client-centered interventions.
• Knowledge of Medicine and health-related concepts relevant to disability, functional assessment, and evidence-based practice.
• Excellent Communication skills, including clear documentation, report writing, and collaborative work with clients, families, and professionals.
• Experience or interest in Pediatrics and working with children and young people with disabilities and developmental needs.
• Recognized qualification in Occupational Therapy and current registration or eligibility for registration with relevant professional bodies (e.g., AHPRA or equivalent).
• Understanding of NDIS processes, person-centered practice, and trauma-informed or recovery-oriented approaches.
• Ability to work autonomously in a hybrid environment, manage caseloads effectively, and travel locally for home and community visits.
• Current driver’s license, Working With Children Check, and relevant clearances (or ability to obtain) are highly desirable.
