The Role
We are seeking a proactive Online Tutor / Academic Tutor / Learning Assistant to provide online academic support, tutoring assistance, learning guidance, and educational coordination. You will support learners through virtual sessions, help explain academic concepts, organize learning materials, monitor progress, and provide structured assistance based on individual learning requirements.
This part-time, fully remote opportunity offers flexible working hours and exposure to online education, virtual tutoring, academic support, digital learning platforms, educational resources, and learner development.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct online tutoring and academic support sessions through virtual learning platforms.
- Assist learners with understanding academic concepts, assignments, coursework, study materials, and learning activities.
- Provide structured explanations and guidance appropriate to the learner's academic level and learning needs.
- Prepare lesson materials, study resources, practice exercises, worksheets, summaries, and learning activities.
- Support learners across relevant academic subjects based on qualifications and experience.
- Adapt tutoring approaches and learning materials to different learning styles, abilities, and academic requirements.
- Monitor learner participation, progress, understanding, assignments, and learning objectives.
- Provide constructive feedback and recommendations to help learners improve their academic performance.
- Assist learners with study planning, revision strategies, organization, time management, and academic preparation.
- Conduct assessments, quizzes, practice activities, or knowledge checks where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate learner records, session notes, attendance information, progress updates, and academic documentation.
- Update online learning platforms, student management systems, spreadsheets, databases, and digital education tools.
- Communicate with learners, parents, academic coordinators, instructors, and relevant stakeholders regarding learning requirements and progress.
- Follow up on assignments, scheduled sessions, learning activities, outstanding work, and academic support requirements.
- Research educational resources, reference materials, subject content, and learning tools to support tutoring sessions.
- Assist with developing or improving digital learning materials, study guides, exercises, presentations, and educational content.
- Prepare learner progress summaries, session reports, academic updates, and routine administrative documentation.
- Maintain organized digital folders containing lesson materials, learner records, resources, assignments, and supporting documents.
- Identify learning challenges and communicate relevant concerns or support requirements to appropriate academic stakeholders.
- Contribute ideas to improve online learning experiences, tutoring resources, learner engagement, and educational workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Education, a relevant academic subject, Teaching, Training, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in tutoring, teaching, academic support, training, education, or a related function is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of at least one relevant academic subject or educational area.
- Previous experience delivering tutoring, teaching, coaching, mentoring, or structured learning support is preferred.
- Familiarity with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, learning management systems, online tutoring platforms, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and digital collaboration tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to build positive learning relationships remotely.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple learners, sessions, assignments, and schedules.
- Strong attention to detail when preparing learning materials, recording progress, and managing academic information.
- Good problem-solving and research skills with the ability to find appropriate educational resources.
- Ability to adapt explanations and teaching approaches according to learner needs.
- Strong digital literacy and confidence working with online education platforms.
- Reliable, patient, proactive, organized, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
