Position Summary: AUIB is seeking a dynamic and experienced Open Rank Faculty in Ethics & Philosophy to drive its mission of advancing interdisciplinary education and excellence in ethics, philosophy, and critical inquiry. In this pivotal role, the Open Rank Faculty in Ethics & Philosophy will teach courses in ethics and philosophy, develop new offerings in areas such as critical thinking and modern political thought, contribute to curriculum development, mentor students, and engage in departmental service. Key Responsibilities: • Teach Introduction to Ethics and other philosophy courses with an emphasis on ethics and moral reasoning. • Develop and teach new course offerings in areas such as critical thinking and modern political thought, and teach Introduction to Humanities and other core liberal arts courses as suited to qualifications. • Attend Meetings: Regularly participate in departmental meetings to stay updated on policies and developments. • Course Development: Assist faculty in creating and updating course materials and curricula. • Adhere to Guidelines: Understand and follow the university's teaching guidelines, regulations, and policies. • Maintain Professionalism: Uphold ethical standards and create a positive and inclusive learning environment. • Research: Engage in research projects in the field and publish regularly. • Service: Assist in departmental assignments such as advising, registration, seminars, and professional development assignments. Ideal Candidate Profile: 1. Understanding of American Higher Education: Familiarity with the structure and processes of the American university system. 2. Strong Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. 3. Time Management and Collaboration: Ability to manage time effectively and work well with others. 4. Student Engagement: Skill in engaging and supervising students. 5. Effective Teaching: Capable of simplifying complex ideas, creating engaging lectures, and fostering active learning. Education and Experience: • Required Education: PhD Preferred. M.A./Ph.D. in Philosophy, Ethics, or a closely related field, with demonstrated ability to teach ethics and philosophy • Years of Relevant Experience: A minimum of one year of teaching experience • Specific Skills or Expertise: Work experience in the Middle East/or study abroad in any of the regional programs • Additional Certifications: Ability to teach Humanities preferred • Personal Attributes: Adaptable, culturally aware, and committed to student success in an international setting. #LI - REMOTE
