The role works closely with operational teams to deliver meaningful performance insights, identify and quantify the impact of operational disruptions, strategic initiatives and improvement projects on key business KPIs, and support data-driven decision making. The Operations Performance Analyst is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate and actionable data is available to support operational delivery, developing performance metrics and reporting, and translating insight into practical actions that drive measurable improvements in performance, cost, customer experience and productivity. The role also leads or supports operational improvement projects, works with stakeholders across the business to realise benefits, and provides near real-time and historical performance insight to support continuous improvement and delivery of the Worldwide Operations strategy
What you’ll do
Work with all Worldwide Operations teams to agree and deliver an appropriate suite of operational metrics underpinning performance, cost, customer experience and employee targets.
Ensure accurate, timely and relevant data and insight is provided to continuously improve operational performance (including KPIs, SLAs, and productivity metrics).
Analyse performance data trends and conduct root cause analysis to identify prioritised opportunities for improvement.
Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for performance improvement.
Develop and maintain dashboards that provide real-time visibility into operational performance.
Drive improvements through more efficient reporting using automation.
Identify gaps in data availability and propose practical solutions.
Partner with operational teams to develop, implement and track performance improvement initiatives, ensuring actions are delivered and benefits realised.
Scope and lead or support improvement projects as required.
Provide hands-on support to operational and strategic projects, helping to identify issues, coordinate actions and drive delivery of business objectives.
Contribute to the definition, elaboration, communication and implementation of the Worldwide Operations strategy, taking into account trends, technology and business data.
Represent Worldwide Operations across IAG Cargo to ensure operational data requirements are clear and delivered.
Act as the interface between Worldwide Operations and the IAG Cargo Data & Analytics teams to support provision and validation of data, metric development and data visualisation.
Ensure adherence to the governance structure for regular review of operational performance across all areas.
Contribute to the provision of reporting on performance data to the IAG Cargo Executive Team via weekly and monthly packs and narratives and contribute to business reviews.
Analyse and quantify the impact of operational disruptions, business initiatives and improvement projects on key performance indicators, using data-driven insight and scenario analysis to support decision making and prioritisation.
It's all about you
What you’ll bring to IAG Cargo:
We are looking for a strategic thinker with an investigative mindset, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate insight into action. We are not necessarily looking for deep expertise in any particular analytical tools. What we are looking for is someone who can learn new tools quickly, enjoys investigating complex operational issues with a calm and methodical approach, can assess data quality and business impact, and is able to deliver value through practical, incremental improvements. You should be comfortable with ambiguity and have the resourcefulness and curiosity to uncover solutions, influence stakeholders and drive positive outcomes, even when the tools are not yet perfect and the data is incomplete.
You should have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and operational teams alike. Experience in performance analysis, business improvement, project delivery or operational problem-solving is essential, ideally within transportation, logistics, supply chain or transformation environments. You should be collaborative, proactive and comfortable working hands-on with teams across the business to identify opportunities, support decision making, implement improvements and deliver measurable operational benefits.
Skills and Experience:
Hold a 2:1 degree or above (or equivalent) in Data Analytics, Business, Operations Management, or a related field.
Have relevant experience in data or business analysis.
Have proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel), SQL and BI tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau).
Have the right to live and work full-time in the UK indefinitely.
Be able to pass a Criminal Record Check.
It would be helpful, but not essential to have:
Experience with Lean, Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.
Knowledge of Python as well as AI application to data analysis.
Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Snowflake).
Background in air cargo or complex operational environments.
