Role and Responsibilities
Collaborate with application development teams on data modeling, schema design, and deployment of complex PL/SQL packages, procedures, triggers, and views.
Analyze execution plans, perform SQL query tuning, and optimize index structures to eliminate bottlenecks in high-throughput transactional environments.
Lead database release automation, code reviews, and schema migrations across development, staging, and production environments.
Monitor database application health, identify lock contention, resolve deadlocks, and troubleshoot latency issues.
Partner with infrastructure and cloud teams to design, test, and execute on-premises to AWS cloud database migrations.
Participate in database capacity planning, failover drills, and disaster recovery design.
Support production deployment and other maintenance activities over weekend and “after office” hours on weekdays as needed.
Mandatory” Skills:
8-10 years of experience in Oracle Database Administration
Oracle Application DBA Expertise: 8+ years specializing in Oracle Database (12c/19c+) application support, advanced PL/SQL programming, execution plan analysis, and performance diagnostics (AWR, ASH, ADDM).
AWS & Cloud Databases: Practical experience administering managed database services including Amazon RDS (Oracle/PostgreSQL) and Amazon Aurora.
PostgreSQL: Hands-on working knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, schema design, and performance optimization.
Cloud Migration Experience: Strong, proven track record of migrating on-premises databases to AWS environments (using tools such as AWS DMS, SCT, or native utilities).
Collaboration & Release Management: Solid background in CI/CD integration for database deployments and working alongside Agile engineering teams.
Ability to work with offshore teams for maintenance and production support activities
“NICE TO HAVE” skills
Experience with Oracle Exadata administration and performance tuning features (Smart Scan, Hybrid Columnar Compression).
Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash) and automation using Python.
Relevant AWS (e.g., AWS Certified Database – Specialty) or Oracle certifications
