Job Description:

This recruitment will be used to fill four part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) Social Media Content Creator positions for University Relations and Marketing (URM) at Oregon State University (OSU).

URM is looking to hire creators who will help participate in the creation of video and photo content for our centralized OSU social media accounts (@OregonState).

The content creator position will support OSU and URM by producing digital content that represents an authentic perspective into student life at Oregon State. Students in this position will be tasked with creating content based on their experience and interests. Examples include serialized content, TikTok videos and/or Reels, photography, tiny mic interviews and other media. Students in this role will meet weekly with URM staff and other student content creators to share ideas, brainstorm content and collaborate on production and editing. Any work created by students in this position is available for use on OSU social networks, websites, blogs and other marketing channels.

Position duties:

  • Produce engaging video content that reflects the student experience at OSU, regularly collaborating with fellow students to showcase the diverse aspects of campus life
  • Be willing to experiment and try new things
  • Attend weekly team meetings to pitch and claim content ideas inspired by social media trends, university events or original creative concepts, then move them into production
  • Tell student stories in fresh, unexpected ways and challenge the status quo through innovative storytelling
  • Collaborate with other content creators within URM as well as student creatives from the MU Creative Studio and OSU Student Affairs

Students will work together to pitch content ideas informed by social media trends, university events, etc. They will then be assigned content production based on their experience, interests and availability. Students will also be encouraged to collaborate with one another on content ideation and execution. Students should feel comfortable creating videos and being on camera as the subject and/or interviewer.
