About Phoenix Play

At Phoenix Play, we have over 20 years of experience designing and installing inspiring educational play environments across schools, nurseries and public settings.

Our mission “Stories Start Here” reflects our belief that every playground is more than just equipment, it’s a place where friendships are formed, confidence grows, curiosity is encouraged and unforgettable experiences begin.

From climbing frames and Early Years outdoor spaces to bespoke outdoor classrooms, every project we create is designed to make a lasting impact on the children who use it.

The Opportunity

Are you looking for a career that is fun, creative and genuinely makes a difference?

We are looking for an experienced Outdoor Learning Consultant to join our growing Sales Team, covering the North of England.

This is a remote, field-based role that combines customer site visits with home-based admin and design work. Typically, your time will be split evenly between working out in your territory and working from home across a fortnight.

Working under the guidance of our Sales Director, you’ll collaborate closely with our Sales, Operations and Creative Design teams to take a customer’s initial brief and vision and turn it into an inspiring outdoor learning and play space.

From the first conversation and site visit through to developing the design, presenting your proposal and securing the project, you’ll play a key role in creating outdoor spaces that make a genuine difference to children.

What We Offer

Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and we want them to feel valued, supported and rewarded for the difference they make. That’s why we offer a competitive package alongside genuine opportunities to progress and build a long-term career with Phoenix Play.

  • £27,500 – £45,000 base salary, depending on experience
  • Uncapped commission, with realistic OTE £55,000 - £80,000+ within two years
  • Clear career progression, with opportunities to develop into Regional Sales Manager
  • Tailored 1-to-1 mentoring and in-depth training, with ongoing support from experienced members of our team
  • Dedicated Sales Support Coordinator to help you manage your territory and sales pipeline
  • Company car, phone, laptop, plus business travel expenses
  • Overseas training, plus company socials and events throughout the year
  • Health cover & workplace pension
  • 20 days annual leave + bank holidays + Christmas Shutdown, with additional leave for length of service
  • Your birthday off

What You’ll Be Doing

No two days are the same. You’ll manage your own territory customer relationships, taking projects from an initial conversation and site visit through to design, proposal and ultimately installation.

  • Travelling throughout your territory to meet with schools, nurseries and other customers
  • Meeting and consulting with Headteachers, Senior Leaders and key stakeholders to understand their needs, brief and vision
  • Surveying and measuring sites accurately
  • Producing detailed, hand-drawn scaled plans
  • Developing imaginative playground designs that balance creativity, play value, learning outcomes and customer budgets
  • Briefing our Creative Design team to bring your concepts to life and develop final designs
  • Presenting designs and proposals to customers, confidently communicating the thinking and value behind them
  • Following up opportunities, and working with customers and internal teams to secure projects
  • Building and maintaining strong, long-term customer relationships
  • Briefing our Operations Team once a project is secured, and supporting a smooth handover from sale through to installation
  • Proactively developing your territory and generating new opportunities
  • Attending industry events and conferences
  • Revisiting completed installations to strengthen customer relationships, identify future opportunities and create inspiring Customer Stories

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with previous experience in the playground industry who can combine creativity with commercial drive. You’ll be a confident relationship-builder who can understand a customer’s vision, develop imaginative solutions and turn great ideas into successful projects.

You must have:

  • Background and experience within the play industry
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organisation and the ability to manage your own workload
  • Confidence working independently across a large territory
  • Commercial drive and the ambition to develop a territory for Phoenix Play
  • Good computer literacy
  • A full clean UK driving licence

It would be great if you also had:

  • Knowledge of EYFS and Primary education
  • Operational, installation or project management experience
  • The ability to draw to scale and communicate ideas through pencil sketches
