Summary:
Reviews medical record documentation to assign ICD-10-CM diagnoses and CPT-4 codes for outpatient encounters to ensure proper coding billing and compliance. Codes according to regulatory guidelines as well as organizational policies.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Outpatient Coder with specialized knowledge of Ambulatory Surgery and Observation coding.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of outpatient hospital services ambulatory surgical procedures observation stays and applicable reimbursement regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Code ambulatory surgery cases including surgical procedures diagnostic services and applicable ancillary services.
- Code observation encounters ensuring accurate diagnosis sequencing and appropriate reporting of services.
- Apply National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits modifiers and other applicable coding rules.
- Review documentation for completeness medical necessity and coding accuracy.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
o One year Outpatient coding experience withing the prior three years in an acute care facility or ambulator surgery center.
- Education:
- Associate's degree in Health Information Management or successful completion of a Technical School Coding Training Program required.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) upon hire is preferred.
