Role Description The Owner’s Engineer Consultant is a full-time, hybrid role based in Austin, TX, with flexibility for some work from home. This role serves as a technical and operational advisor to Postlane’s investment and portfolio management teams, providing independent assessment of engineering designs, project plans, and operational performance for assets and platforms across targeted industry verticals. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing project feasibility studies, technical reports, and financial models; evaluating risks related to design, construction, operations, and maintenance; and recommending practical mitigations and optimization strategies. The consultant will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to translate technical findings into clear business implications, support due diligence for new investments, and monitor ongoing project execution against performance, budget, and schedule. The role also involves preparing concise documentation, presenting findings to leadership, and helping refine internal standards and frameworks for technical risk management.

Qualifications

• Technical expertise in engineering disciplines relevant to infrastructure, industrial assets, or complex operational platforms, with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and performance data.
• Strong analytical and financial acumen, including experience assessing project economics, life-cycle costs, and risk/return trade-offs for capital-intensive projects.
• Proven experience in project management or owner’s engineering roles, including oversight of design, construction, commissioning, and operations, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated capability in risk assessment and mitigation, including operational due diligence, scenario analysis, and development of practical recommendations for optimization.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convert complex technical topics into clear, concise materials for investment and executive audiences.
• Comfort working in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment, with high ownership, structured thinking, and sound judgment under uncertainty.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field; advanced degree or professional licensure (e.g., PE) is preferred but not required.
• Experience supporting private investments, infrastructure funds, or special situation transactions is a plus, as is prior work in Austin or similar growth markets.
