Role Summary

The IB DP Mandarin ab initio Teacher facilitates high-quality, student-centred online learning for Diploma Programme students enrolled with Pamoja. Working within Pamoja’s IB-approved online model, the teacher supports beginner language learners to develop foundational Mandarin communication skills, cultural understanding, and confidence in using the language. This role focuses on facilitation rather than direct instruction, guiding an international cohort of students through structured content while providing timely feedback and academic support aligned with the IB learner profile.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate IB DP Mandarin ab initio courses using Pamoja’s online learning platform, guiding students through weekly learning activities and discussions
• Support beginner learners in developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Mandarin
• Assess student work and provide timely, high-quality written feedback aligned with IB subject guides and assessment criteria
• Support students with Internal Assessments and exam preparation, as appropriate to the course
• Monitor student engagement and academic progress, responding proactively to individual learning needs
• Communicate regularly with students using discussion forums, messaging, and video conferencing tools
• Uphold academic integrity and IB expectations across all aspects of teaching and assessment
• Participate in training and ongoing professional learning

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Completion of a full two-year IB Diploma Programme cycle within the last 2–3 years
• Relevant degree and recognised teaching qualification
  
• Experience teaching IB DP Mandarin ab initio or beginner language acquisition courses
• High level of proficiency in Mandarin
• Strong written and spoken English
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and online tools such as Teams and Zoom
• Highly organised, autonomous, and responsive to student needs
