About the Team
Our market-leading Catastrophic Injury and Large Loss team is trusted by insurers, corporations, and public sector organisations to defend some of the most serious, complex, and high-value personal injury claims in the UK.
The team advises on a broad range of matters including fatal accidents, acquired brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations, chronic pain cases, serious orthopaedic injuries, and claims involving significant future care and rehabilitation needs. Working alongside recognised experts in the field, you will gain exposure to challenging and rewarding work while developing your own technical and commercial expertise.
The Role
We are seeking a Paralegal to join our Catastrophic Injury and Large Loss team in either our Bristol or Southampton office.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and motivated individual looking to develop a career within a leading defendant insurance practice. You will work closely with Partners, Legal Directors, Senior Associates, and Associates on high-value and sensitive claims, supporting all aspects of case management.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting fee earners with the day-to-day management of catastrophic injury and large loss claims.
- Reviewing and analysing medical records, witness evidence, and other claim documentation.
- Assisting with liability and quantum investigations.
- Drafting correspondence, witness statements, instructions to counsel, and instructions to medical and other experts.
- Preparing court bundles, conference packs, and hearing materials.
- Liaising with clients, insurers, experts, counsel, and other third parties.
- Conducting legal research and preparing case summaries.
- Managing diaries, deadlines, and key case milestones.
- Supporting business development initiatives and client relationship activities where appropriate.
- Ensuring compliance with internal procedures, service standards, and regulatory requirements.
Skills & Experience
We are interested in hearing from candidates who can demonstrate:
- Previous experience in a legal environment, preferably within personal injury, defendant insurance litigation, or insurance claims.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical ability.
- A proactive and professional approach to work.
- Confidence working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Knowledge of the litigation process would be advantageous but is not essential.
- A genuine interest in catastrophic injury and complex casualty litigation.
