What We're Looking For Tarteel is building the tools and resources to support and accelerate the work of the next generation of Muslim developers. Our primary open source toolkit, Quranic Universal Library (QUL), provides developers with all the resources and assets they need to build Islamic applications and is currently used by 100s of apps serving millions of users around the world. As a developer advocate, you’ll help developers make the most of QUL by providing them with guides and tutorials that will help them utilize the resources to their full potential. You’ll encourage others to get involved in the ecosystem by administrating grants for project bounties, as well as champion those who have added value to the ecosystem. You are someone that has strong communication skills, both oral and written, and ideally have existing experience working with developers. You should also be able to collect and provide feedback from external stakeholders and share them internally to help scope and prioritize our open source resources roadmap and development. As a part-time role, you’ll be working either 20 hrs/week, or a project-based contract. This position is fully remote, however you must be available between 8am and 12pm Eastern (New York) time on work days. Responsibilities Design and administer a grants program. This will include writing and reviewing project proposals and selection/acceptance criteria, identifying ways to attract applicants, and keeping them in close contact during and after the grant period. Create technical content demonstrating how to quickly build real projects on top of Tarteel’s open source software (OSS), including blog posts, tutorials, and sample code. Identify and create documentation and functional changes that improve usability of QUL. Champion the community and highlight community members’ work. Evangelize Tarteel’s OSS and the broader ecosystem by creating content such as short posts and videos for distribution on X and other networked channels. Engage with developers through forums, social media, and webinars. Identify and prioritize resource gaps within the Islamic software ecosystem. Represent Tarteel at Muslim developer events and hackathons. Independently seek and discover novel opportunities for collaboration with other developers in the ecosystem and encourage their usage of and contribution to Tarteel’s OSS. Increase discoverability of Tarteel’s OSS, such as by making QUL the top repo when searching for “Quran” on GitHub. Requirements 2+ years working in a developer relations role or similar Fluent English Proficiency Strong verbal and written communication skills Experience creating digital content (videos, presentations, etc.) Familiar with Github Issues and Projects Proficiency with a frontend-based framework for demos (React, React Native, Vue, etc.) Preferred Qualifications Professional Arabic Proficiency Familiar with Ruby on Rails Experience with open source software or large volunteer-driven projects Experience with AI-based tools for content generation and automation
