Part-Time Post-Doctoral Research Associate - Theory and Practice in Teacher Education - UTK

The primary focus of this position is to empirically investigate teacher professional learning and student learning outcomes, and co-author peer-reviewed publications and federal grant proposals. Alongside this research and writing work, the postdoctoral associate will support the facilitation of professional development sessions, coordinate logistics across the research team, and provide ongoing coaching to participating teachers as they implement a place-based AI in Agriculture curriculum in their classrooms.

Federal grant writing and journal publications

- Conducting literature reviews

- Transcribing data and qualitatively analyzing themes

-Basic statistics to analyze quantitative data

-Writing results systematically for a scholarly audience

-Based on preliminary findings, help PIs write grant proposals by contextualizing findings

Assisting with teacher professional learning

-Assisting with preparing lesson plans/professional learning materials to be shared in a format that other teachers can easily use

- Participate in research activities related to the lesson plans

-Collecting formative data on the efficacy of the lesson in the form of exit tickets and student work

Required Qualifications

Education: Doctoral Degree

Experience: Research experience and co-authoring academic articles

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Writing skills for scholarly audience

Research skills for analyzing quantitative and qualitative data

Knowledge developing lesson plan for teachers

Skills to analyze and transcribe data.

Skills to communicate effectively in oral and written communications. Outstanding computer skills including ability to use Zoom and Google docs

Strong organizational skills needed to make arrangements for outreach events and PD sessions.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment-based visa status.

• Anticipated hiring range: $40,000 (20hrs week)
