Overview and Purpose

This role will appeal to an experienced major gift fundraiser who knows how to open doors, build trusted relationships, and secure significant philanthropic investments. The key focus of the role is to grow funding support from international foundations for Concern’s humanitarian and development work, mobilising support from internal and external stakeholders to achieve this objective.

Terms: Permanent - Full time - 50% hybrid in our Dublin 2 office

Location: Dublin with occasional overseas travel

Salary: GB7 (€70,088 - €77,875)

GB 7-9, HO T&C's

Responsibilities

  • Strategic: lead the strategic development and delivery of income growth from foundations across a number of international markets to support Concern’s programmatic work.
  • Pipeline management: build and manage strong foundation prospect pipelines, identifying and converting opportunities that align with programmatic priorities and funding strategies.
  • Proposal development: develop partnership pitches, concepts, and cases for support, translating programmatic priorities and impact evidence into compelling foundation-facing propositions.
  • Donor relationship management: manage relationships with foundation funders, providing timely reporting on impact and progress.
  • Budget management: lead and manage the annual budget process for foundation income based on annual activity plans.
  • Collaboration: work closely with internal stakeholders in the development of funding proposals, donor partnership contracts, donor reporting, and donor identification and networking. Facilitate exchange of successful practices, market insights, and fundraising approaches across country offices to strengthen the organization’s overall capacity to engage foundations.
  • Compliance: manage due diligence processes and risk assessments for prospective foundation partners in line with Concern’s policies.
  • Alternative funding models: play a lead role in identifying and testing new models for collaboration with international funders that enable Concern to more effectively achieve its mission.
  • Networking and representation: represent Concern on external and partner forums, and use these forums to generate funding quality leads, including meeting with potential new supporters and presenting the organisation’s work.
  • All managers are responsible for upholding and promoting Concern’s values, demonstrating leadership on workplace equality, diversity and inclusion, and role modelling a positive safeguarding ethos.
  • All managers are required to actively participate in any emergency response as and when required.

Role Holder Requirements

  • Ability to influence and coordinate internal and external stakeholders in the development and delivery of compelling cases for support from the private sector (trusts, foundations, and companies)
  • Solid record of high value fundraising and donor relationship management
  • A good understanding of International Development work
  • People management - experience of managing and developing people (the post-holder will have one team member reporting into them)
  • Excellent written communication skills, with specific experience in grant and proposal writing
  • High degree of independence, organization, and reliability, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
  • Budget management
  • Good networking skill (both internal and external)
  • Experienced in all Microsoft packages and the use of Customer Relationship Management systems
  • Third level degree
