Patent Professional (Helsinki, Turku, Tampere, Jyväskylä)

Elisa Patents is looking for an experienced Patent Professional to join our team in Helsinki, Turku, Tampere or Jyväskylä.

About The Job

In this role, you will work directly with Elisa’s inventors and business units to identify and protect innovations. You will assess inventions, coordinate drafting and prosecution with external patent attorneys and take end-to-end responsibility for an assigned part of Elisa’s patent portfolio.

The position may suit an experienced in-house patent professional or a patent attorney or patent agent from private practice who would like to work closer to inventors, technology development and business operations.

Your Responsibilities

• Collaborate with inventors and business units to identify potentially patentable inventions.
• Evaluate invention disclosures and assess the patentability of the disclosed inventions.
• Lead and coordinate patent drafting and prosecution in collaboration with external patent attorneys.
• Take end-to-end responsibility for an assigned part of Elisa’s patent portfolio.
• Advise Elisa’s business units on patent and other intellectual property matters.
• Develop Elisa’s invention and patent processes and contribute to the development of IP management tools and working practices.
  
  

Elisa operates a hybrid working model. The expectation for this role is to work at an Elisa office on average three days per week.

What we are looking for

• A relevant degree, for example in engineering, technology, science, business or economics.
• Relevant patent experience gained in an in-house IP function or private practice, including experience working with technology businesses or industrial clients.
• Fluent written and spoken Finnish and English.
• The ability to understand and analyze complex technical documents and system descriptions.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with inventors, business stakeholders and external advisers.
• You are comfortable working independently and taking full ownership of matters, including situations where you may be the sole patent expert involved.
• Strong attention to detail and intercultural awareness.
  
  

You Should Be Comfortable Working Across Different Technology Areas And Learning New Technical Concepts When Needed. Experience In One Or More Of The Following Areas Is Considered An Advantage

• radio access networks and service assurance
• artificial intelligence, including generative and industrial AI
• energy optimization and distributed energy storages
• telecommunications security and cyber
  
  

We do not expect every candidate to have experience in all these areas. The ability to understand new technologies and apply patent expertise across different technical fields is important.
