Salary Range: $20.00 To $23.00 Hourly About the Role: The Patient Accounts Specialist plays a critical role in the healthcare revenue cycle by ensuring accurate and timely processing of patient accounts and insurance information. This position is responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage, coordinating with insurance providers, and resolving billing discrepancies to facilitate smooth payment processes. The specialist acts as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to clarify account statuses and support financial communication. By maintaining detailed and accurate records, the Patient Accounts Specialist helps optimize reimbursement and reduce claim denials. Ultimately, this role contributes to the financial health of the healthcare organization while supporting a positive patient experience through clear and professional account management. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred. Proven experience in insurance verification or patient accounts within a healthcare setting. Knowledge of dental insurance plans, billing procedures, and healthcare regulations. Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Experience working with multiple insurance providers Cloud9 and/or Orthodontic Experience preferred Responsibilities: Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to service delivery to ensure coverage accuracy. Review and process patient accounts, including billing, payments, and adjustments in compliance with healthcare regulations. Communicate with insurance companies to resolve claim denials, discrepancies, and payment issues. Respond to patient inquiries regarding account balances, insurance coverage, and payment options with professionalism and clarity. Maintain accurate documentation of all account activities and insurance communications in the healthcare management system. Skills: The required skill of insurance verification is utilized daily to confirm patient coverage and prevent billing errors, ensuring that services are authorized and reimbursed appropriately. Strong communication skills are essential for interacting effectively with patients and insurance representatives to clarify account details and resolve disputes. Organizational skills support the management of multiple accounts simultaneously, maintaining accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations. Preferred skills such as medical billing certification enhance the specialist’s ability to interpret complex insurance policies and billing codes, improving claim success rates. Additionally, proficiency with healthcare software systems streamlines account processing and documentation, contributing to efficient workflow and timely revenue collection.
