Make an Impact on the Patient Financial Experience

Virginia-Based Remote Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Patient Collections Manager to provide leadership and strategic direction across key areas of Patient Financial Services, including patient collections, estimates, and accounts receivable.

In this role, you’ll lead and develop a high-performing team while driving strategies that improve collections, optimize cash flow, reduce outstanding receivables, and strengthen the overall patient financial experience. You’ll partner closely with senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and external vendors to identify opportunities, solve complex revenue cycle challenges, and drive measurable improvements.

If you’re a collaborative, results-driven healthcare revenue cycle leader who enjoys developing people, using data to solve problems, and improving processes, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both financial performance and the patient experience.

Location: Remote opportunity for candidates residing in Virginia.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Patient Financial Services operations across patient collections, estimates, and accounts receivable, driving strong performance and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Develop and execute collection strategies to optimize cash flow, improve reimbursement, and reduce outstanding receivables.
  • Analyze accounts receivable performance, trends, and key metrics to identify opportunities and drive process improvements.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management.
  • Partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to resolve complex financial issues and strengthen overall revenue cycle performance.
  • Develop and improve collection policies, procedures, and workflows while ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage third-party collection agencies and external partners, ensuring performance expectations are met.
  • Champion a positive patient financial experience by resolving escalated concerns with professionalism, empathy, and a solutions-focused approach.
  • Prepare and communicate performance reporting and financial insights to leadership, and support court garnishment proceedings in partnership with collection counsel, as needed.

What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or revenue cycle operations, including at least 3 years in healthcare collections, accounts receivable, or revenue cycle management.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing teams.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle operations, patient collections, accounts receivable, and applicable compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to analyze financial and operational data, identify trends, and drive process and performance improvements.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Epic or a similar healthcare revenue cycle system.
  • Experience managing third-party collection agencies or external revenue cycle partners.
  • Experience developing, implementing, or improving patient collection processes, policies, and workflows.

What Will Help You Succeed

You'll thrive in this position if you're a leader who combines financial acumen with a people-first mindset. You're comfortable diving into data, asking the right questions, challenging existing processes, and collaborating across departments to find better solutions.

Just as importantly, you understand that behind every account is a patient, and you know how to balance strong financial stewardship with a positive and respectful patient experience.
