Patient Financial Advocate
Location: 100% Remote (Must reside and work within the United States)
About the Opportunity
We are seeking compassionate, customer-focused professionals to join a growing healthcare revenue cycle team as a Patient Financial Advocate. In this role, you will help patients better understand and resolve their medical account balances while delivering exceptional service and support.
This position is ideal for individuals with call center and healthcare experience who enjoy helping others, solving problems, and making a positive impact during what can be a stressful time for patients. Position Overview
The Patient Financial Advocate serves as a key point of contact for patients regarding their medical accounts. This role handles inbound and outbound calls, responds to billing inquiries, establishes payment arrangements, and helps patients identify resources that may assist with their financial obligations.
Success in this role requires strong communication skills, empathy, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and place inbound and outbound calls regarding patient account balances.
- Assist patients with billing questions, insurance updates, and payment options.
- Establish payment plans and negotiate payment arrangements when appropriate.
- Process credit card payments and document account activity accurately.
- Research account information and provide timely resolution to patient concerns.
- Identify patients who may qualify for additional financial assistance or resources.
- Escalate complex billing issues to team members or management as needed.
- Adhere to healthcare privacy standards, collections regulations, and company policies.
- Meet or exceed productivity, quality, and customer service metrics.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of recent call center experience.
- At least 6 months of healthcare-related experience, such as:
- Medical billing
- Insurance claims
- Patient scheduling
- Healthcare customer service
- Revenue cycle support
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy and professionalism when assisting patients.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual Spanish skills.
- Experience working remotely.
- Collections or payment negotiation experience.
- Familiarity with healthcare billing and insurance processes.
- Experience handling high-volume inbound calls.
Work Environment
- This is a remote position. Candidates must have:
- Reliable high-speed internet (minimum 50 Mbps recommended).
- A dedicated, private workspace free from distractions.
- Ability to work independently while remaining engaged with a virtual team.
- All equipment will be provided, including dual-monitor setup.
Training & Schedule
Training Schedule: Monday-Friday - 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM MST
- Approximately 12 days of instructor-led training followed by a structured nesting period with ongoing support and mentorship
Regular Schedule After Training: Shifts scheduled between 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM MST - Monday-Friday

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Salt Lake City, UT.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
