Payment Posting & Reconciliation Manager

A contract opportunity to apply deep revenue cycle expertise in evaluating and informing automation tools designed to streamline ERA processing, payment posting, and cash reconciliation workflows. Your assessments will directly shape the accuracy and reliability of next-generation remittance processing systems.

$85/hr | Flexible Hours | Remote

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end cash posting operations spanning ERA/835 electronic remittance processing, manual EOB posting, and lockbox reconciliation across multiple payers and payment types
• Evaluate LLM-generated payment posting outputs, ERA matching recommendations, and reconciliation reports, providing structured annotation and feedback to support model training datasets
• Reconcile posted payments against bank deposits, lockbox reports, and payer remittances, resolving posting errors, misapplied payments, and unapplied cash
• Monitor cash posting KPIs — including posting accuracy rates, days to post, unapplied cash balances, and reconciliation variance — to maintain operational integrity
• Partner with billing, A/R, and finance teams to resolve payment discrepancies and ensure timely cash close
• Ensure cash handling procedures remain compliant with internal controls, HIPAA requirements, and audit standards

Core Requirements

• Demonstrated management experience in cash posting, payment reconciliation, or revenue cycle operations
• Deep technical knowledge of ERA/835 electronic remittance processing, EOB interpretation, and remittance adjustment reason codes
• Proven ability to manage high-volume payment posting workflows across multi-payer environments with accuracy and consistency
• Hands-on proficiency with billing and payment posting platforms such as Epic, Athenahealth, or equivalent systems
• Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills with the ability to deliver precise, structured written feedback
• High analytical acuity in identifying discrepancies and posting errors within automation-generated outputs

Additional Strengths

• CRCR, CPC, or CHFP certification, or equivalent professional credential in revenue cycle management
• Prior experience developing cash posting SOPs and internal control frameworks within hospital or physician group settings
• Background working with automated ERA posting platforms or RPA-driven cash posting solutions
