We are hiring for this position out of our Toronto and Vancouver offices. Successful candidates who apply outside of these areas will be expected to relocate and reside in a location that is within a commutable distance.
About the role:
This role is responsible for supporting and overseeing compliance activities across Peoples Group's payments business. You will provide guidance and oversight on payment network requirements, AML obligations, regulatory compliance, partner onboarding, and ongoing client monitoring.
As a key compliance partner to the business, you will assess new products, clients, business models, and change initiatives, ensuring they meet internal policies, payment network rules, and applicable regulatory requirements while supporting business growth and innovation.
About the day-to-day:
- Review products, projects, clients, business models, and change requests, providing compliance assessments and recommendations to management.
- Oversee compliance with AML/KYC/KYB/KYA requirements, payment network rules, and applicable regulatory frameworks.
- Monitor client and partner activities to ensure adherence to compliance obligations and network requirements.
- Conduct compliance reviews, audits, and ongoing monitoring of clients, partners, and payment programs.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on regulatory and payment network requirements impacting the business.
- Analyze regulatory and network rule changes, assess impacts, and support implementation of required changes.
- Manage regulatory, network, and internal reporting, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Support partner registrations, sub-merchant onboarding, network reporting, and other compliance administration activities.
- Contribute to the enhancement of compliance monitoring, audit, and oversight programs.
- Provide guidance to business stakeholders to help maintain effective and compliant payment programs.
About the qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in compliance, AML, risk management, or payments.
- Experience working within financial services considered a strong asset.
- Strong knowledge of AML/KYC requirements and compliance frameworks.
- Experience working with payment networks (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX), merchant acquiring, card issuing, payment processing, or related payment programs.
- Familiarity with FINTRAC, OSFI, FCAC, PCI DSS, PIPEDA, CASL, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Experience conducting compliance reviews, audits, monitoring activities, or regulatory assessments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to balance regulatory requirements with business objectives in a fast-paced environment.
- CAMS, CRCM, CFE, or other compliance-related designations are considered an asset.

About the work environment:
Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm with flexibility around start/end times.

Compensation:
The expected salary for this role is approximately $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 annually. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
