Overview
Cambrist is a fast-growing B2B Fintech operating in the card payments domain. To support our accelerated growth, Cambrist is recruiting an experienced Payments Reconciliation Specialist to join our Product & Operations team. The right person will have hands-on experience reconciling card scheme clearing and settlement activity at a licensed acquiring bank or a scaled merchant acquiring fintech.
Responsibilities
As a Payments Reconciliation Specialist at Cambrist, you will be responsible for the day-to-day accuracy and integrity of the reconciliation service that underpins our clients’ merchant profitability reporting. You will:
● Monitor daily reconciliation of Visa and Mastercard clearing, settlement and invoice data against client and scheme-provided files.
● Pro-actively investigate and resolve reconciliation gaps, itemising differences by settlement service, settlement date, settlement amount, cardholder spend, interchange and scheme fees.
● Validate scheme invoices (Visa and Mastercard) against expected interchange and scheme fee calculations, flagging discrepancies for client and scheme follow-up.
● Support onboarding of new clients and data sources, working with IT team to validate new file feeds against Cambrist’s data model.
● Maintain documentation of reconciliation methodology, exceptions and resolutions to support client audits and internal quality control.
● Act as the operational point of escalation for client queries relating to reconciliation and settlement discrepancies.
● Contribute reconciliation domain expertise to the Product team as new features and automated checks are designed for the Merchant Profitability Platform.
● Produce and distribute periodic reconciliation and exception reports to clients and internal stakeholders.
● Continuously identify opportunities to automate manual reconciliation and itemisation steps, working with the IT team to reduce processing time and error rates.
Experience and Qualifications
You have:
● A university degree
● At least 3 to 5 years of experience in card scheme payment operations, with specific hands-on experience supporting and managing the reconciliation of Visa and Mastercard transactions associated with clearing and settlement for merchant acquiring.
● A deep, practical understanding of Visa and Mastercard payment operations and financial mechanics, including interchange rates and categories, scheme fees, and the chargeback lifecycle
● Direct experience working with card scheme reports and files, including Mastercard T112/IPM, IP755120-AA Clearing Detail, T140 Fee Collections, T057 currency file; VISA EP747 Settlement, Base II, Outgoing/Incoming ITF.
● Prior work experience at a licensed merchant acquiring bank or a scaled merchant acquiring fintech is strongly preferred.
● Strong Excel/data-handling skills and comfort working with large, structured transaction files (CSV, fixed-width and scheme-proprietary formats).
● Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required; a primary/first language other than English is welcomed, particularly Greek, Romanian or Bulgarian, given Cambrist’s footprint in these markets.
● Excellent attention to detail and a methodical, audit-minded approach to investigating and documenting discrepancies.
● Comfortable multi-tasking and working independently in a fast-paced, small-company environment, with proactive escalation of issues before they become urgent.
