Koniag Government Services (KGS) is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join our team supporting critical business operations in Chantilly, VA. This position is Hybrid – one day a week in the Chantilly, VA office. The ideal candidate is a dependable and organized professional who is passionate about accuracy and committed to maintaining confidentiality in handling sensitive employee information. This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance to support KGS and our government customers.

The Payroll Clerk will support the accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees across 18 legal entities. This individual will work closely with the Payroll, HR, and Accounting teams to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.

Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Collect, review, and verify timekeeping information using Jamis Timekeeping system.
  • Review employee payroll information for accuracy.
  • Assist in processing bi-weekly payroll runs as well as off-cycle payroll runs, in accordance with established deadlines utilizing Dayfore HCM.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding paychecks, deductions, and payroll discrepancies in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assist in reconciling payroll reports and resolving discrepancies between payroll and other financial systems.
  • Maintain accurate and organized payroll records in compliance with company policy and federal/state regulations.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and reports as requested.
  • Assist with the preparation of payroll-related reports for management and accounting teams.

  • Perform other clerical and administrative duties as assigned to support the payroll function.

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4-5 years of experience in payroll processing, payroll administration or related administrative role.
  • Experience with HCM software systems and Government Contracting Timekeeping software systems (e.g., Dayforce, Workday, Jamis, Deltek, or similar platforms).

Desired:

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience processing payroll in a government contracting environment.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive employee and payroll information.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines with competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A basic understanding of payroll principles, tax withholding, and wage and hour laws.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required by contract.

Desired Skills and Competencies:

  • Familiarity with Jamis Timekeeping System and Dayforce HCM software system or similar government contracting payroll/accounting systems.
  • Experience supporting payroll functions within a federal government contracting environment.
