The Agency Green House is a Brand-to-Demand marketing agency powered by the FrontLine. We connect brand strategy to real-world execution where consumer decisions happen, culture is shaped, and markets move. We challenge traditional approaches to marketing by delivering street-smart strategy, creative innovation, and operational excellence that drive traction where it matters most: on the shelf, behind the bar, and in culture.
About the Role
The Payroll Manager is responsible for owning and managing the full payroll function at Green House, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing for a national workforce across multiple states. This role requires deep working knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll compliance, including break laws, final pay requirements, and payroll tax obligations. You will partner closely with HR, Finance, and Operations to maintain payroll accuracy, resolve employee inquiries, and continuously improve payroll processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing: Own end-to-end payroll processing for all Green House employees across multiple states and pay schedules, including high-volume part-time field staff and semi-monthly full-time staff.
Compliance: Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, including multi-state break laws, meal/rest period requirements, final pay regulations, and tax compliance across all jurisdictions.
Auditing & Controls: Conduct monthly payroll audits against the time management system, maintain strict separation of duties, and support internal, external, and workers’ compensation audits.
Finance Integration: Collaborate with Finance on payroll-related accounting entries, accruals, GL account reconciliations, and reporting for month-end and year-end close processes.
Employee Support: Provide excellent customer service by addressing and resolving employee payroll questions, and partner with HR on new hire onboarding and benefits administration (including ACA reporting and W-2 documentation).
Process Improvement: Identify and implement system enhancements to reduce manual effort and proactively mitigate payroll risks.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
3+ years of progressive experience in payroll administration or management, including hands-on ownership of multi-state payroll processing.
Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll compliance, wage and hour laws, and payroll tax requirements (FICA, FUTA, SUTA).
Experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paylocity, Paycom, UKG) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel for payroll analysis and GL reporting.
Strong audit skills and experience with GL account reconciliation required.
CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification strongly preferred; FPC considered.
