We are transforming the legal experience for all by bettering the lives of legal professionals while increasing access to justice . Summary: We are currently seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our Payroll team in Sydney. Who you are: You’re a detail-oriented payroll professional with strong hands-on experience running Australian payroll end to end, and you’re equally comfortable operating through third-party providers for the rest of our global population. You know Australian payroll legislation well — PAYG withholding, Superannuation Guarantee, state and territory payroll tax, and the Fair Work obligations that sit behind them — and you bring a strong compliance mindset, sound judgment, and a hands-on approach to payroll delivery. What your team does: Our Payroll team sits within People and delivers accurate, compliant, on-time payroll for Clions across APAC and beyond. We're a global team with presence in APAC, EMEA, North America and LATAM, and we own payroll and benefits reconciliation, statutory reporting, year-end, and the Workday payroll configuration that makes it all run — and we're actively strengthening our controls and documentation as Clio grows. What you'll work on: Prepare and process payroll for Australia-based employees, ensuring timely and accurate execution, and take on additional in-country payrolls as the business grows and expands across APAC. Manage payroll inputs and validations, including variable pay, allowances, leave loading, absences, retroactive adjustments, final settlements, and Fringe Benefits Manage statutory payroll reporting and remittances in line with Australian requirements, including PAYG withholding, superannuation, and year-end reporting. Manage our Employer of Record (EOR) population, coordinating payroll cycles, inputs, invoices, and issue resolution with our EOR partner across Denmark, India, the Philippines, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Turkey, and Bangladesh, along with new countries as our global footprint expands. Reconcile payroll and benefits data, support reporting, and assist with month-end activities. Support employee lifecycle payroll administration, including hires, changes, leaves, resignations, and terminations. Maintain payroll-related processes in Workday and support benefits administration with internal teams and external vendors. Respond to payroll and benefits inquiries, maintain documentation, and support audits and continuous improvement efforts. Participate in cross-training to help provide backup support for other regional payrolls as needed. What you bring: 3+ years of payroll experience, including hands-on experience processing Australian payroll end to end. Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll requirements — PAYG withholding, Superannuation Guarantee, state and territory payroll tax, long service leave, workers’ compensation, terminations and year-end reporting. Working understanding of Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards obligations as they apply to pay, leave, and termination. Experience managing payroll through third-party providers, including EOR or global payroll platforms, and coordinating multi-country cycles across time zones. Experience with payroll reconciliations, reporting, controls, and documentation. Experience supporting employee lifecycle payroll processes and payroll-related inquiries. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently. Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the discretion required to handle confidential data. Fluency in English. Bonus points if you have: Experience with Workday. Experience with Remote, or a similar EOR and contractor management platform, and with contractor of record arrangements. Exposure to payroll in any of the countries we support through our EOR partner — Denmark, India, the Philippines, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Turkey, or Bangladesh — or to multi-country payroll environments more broadly. A relevant payroll qualification, such as an Australian Payroll Association or Australian Payroll Institute certification, or demonstrated expertise in Australian payroll. Experience supporting audits, year-end activities, and statutory filings. Experience improving processes, documentation, and internal controls in a global or scaling company. Experience in a high-growth SaaS or technology environment. What you will find here: Compensation is one of the main components of Clio’s Total Rewards Program.
