Job Description
Payroll & Pensions Administrator – 12 Month Contract
Location: County Hall, Chichester
Rate: £26.99 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: 12 Month Contract
Hours: Full Time
Working Pattern: Hybrid
Pay: Bi-Weekly
Summary
We are looking for a skilled Payroll & Pensions Administrator to join our dynamic team for a 12-month contract. This role is crucial in delivering exceptional administrative support within our busy Payroll and Pensions department. The successful candidate will ensure precise and timely processing of payroll and pension transactions, maintain accurate employee records, and provide excellent customer service. You will also handle sensitive information with discretion and offer guidance to managers and employees, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
Working Arrangements
This position offers a hybrid working model based at County Hall, Chichester.
- The team meets in the office every Thursday.
- Initial training will be conducted on-site with colleagues.
- Training may require several days of office attendance each week, depending on progress.
- Remote work is possible after successful completion of training.
- Occasional additional office attendance may be necessary, sometimes at short notice.
- Increased office presence will be required during the implementation of a new IT system in October.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately process payroll and pension transactions within set deadlines.
- Manage changes to pay, employee records, contracts, and pension details.
- Support the administration of DBS applications and related tasks.
- Utilize SAP and other systems for payroll and administrative duties.
- Calculate pay, pensions, leave entitlements, and employment terms.
- Analyze data and apply procedures for accurate processing.
- Draft correspondence, standard letters, and written communications.
- Maintain and update employee and pension records.
- Address telephone, email, and written inquiries.
- Provide advice and guidance to customers, managers, and employees.
- Handle confidential employee information with care.
- Prepare payment details and assist with invoice processing as needed.
- Build effective relationships with colleagues and managers.
- Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and professional standards.

- GCSE English and Maths (Grade A-C/4-9) or equivalent experience.
- Experience in payroll, pensions, finance, HR, or administrative roles.
- Experience providing advice and support to customers or managers.
- Good understanding of office systems and administrative processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Desirable
- Experience in payroll or pensions administration.
- Knowledge of payroll or pensions regulations and processes.
- CIPP, NVQ Level 3 (Payroll or Pensions Administration) or equivalent.
- Experience with SAP or other large corporate systems.
- Experience in specialist payroll, pensions, finance, or HR environments.
- Experience with financial systems for invoicing or related tasks.
