Role Overview and Team Objectives
- Job posting 4951 is for a Senior Level Ops Data Analyst
within the Visual Management and Insight Services department, managed by Patrick
Panikvar.
- The team is responsible for translating regulatory
compliance data from agencies such as CPUC, OEIS, and CAL FIRE into visual
insights.
- The primary driver for this hire is the need to scale
the team’s reporting capacity and transition from simple numerical
reporting to generating actionable insights.
- The team currently
utilizes the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power BI, Power
Automate, and Dataverse.
- A critical gap exists
in Power Apps development, which is the central focus of this new role.
Technical Requirements and Candidate Qualifications
- The essential requirement for this position is
demonstrated experience in building, releasing, and maintaining Power Apps
solutions from scratch.
- The candidate will
primarily work with Canvas apps (a type of Power Apps) to create new solutions
for the compliance team.
- Expertise in the
broader Microsoft Power Platform is required, though the team
already possesses proficiency in Power BI and Power Automate (so although
needed, these will not be part of their day-to-day work).
- The Hiring Manager established specific filters
for the candidate selection process to manage high applicant volumes.
- Prior experience with
PG&E or a utility background is preferred and will be used as a
primary resume filter.
- Candidates must have a minimum
of four years of related work experience and a BA or BS degree, or equivalent work
experience.
- Several technical skills were identified as
non-mandatory, "nice-to-have" attributes that demonstrate
analytical depth.
- These include Unix
Shell programming, SAS, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, and Synapse
Analytics.
- Experience working
cross-functionally to gather requirements from non-technical stakeholders
is highly valued.
Engagement Logistics and Timeline
- The contract is currently scheduled to end on December
31, 2026, due to calendar-year budget constraints.
- Patrick Panikvar noted that contracts
typically last between 6 and 12 months, and extensions are very likely if
budget permits.
- There is a possibility
for the role to convert to a full-time staff position in the future.
- Work location requirements are flexible but restricted
to the PG&E service territory.
- The role is essentially
remote-friendly provided the candidate is within the PG&E territory.
Interview and Vetting Process
- The selection process will focus on behavioral and
technical discussions rather than formal skills testing.
- Candidates will be
asked to describe specific Power Apps they have built, focusing on the
challenges faced and their collaborative process.
- The Hiring Manager requested
that candidates provide a portfolio or samples of previous work to
demonstrate the depth of their experience.
