Salary Range: $75,000 - $87,000
Knowesis is currently seeking exceptional Peer Review Program Support Specialists to join our team and provide invaluable support to the Biomedical Research Application Evaluation and Support (BRAES) program. These specialists provide administrative, logistical, technical, and production support for biomedical research peer review panels. Working closely with Scientific Review Officers (SROs) and other peer review personnel, they coordinate the operational details required to prepare for, conduct, and complete virtual, online, and in-person peer review activities. One specialist may support multiple panels or programs depending on review schedules, complexity, and workload.
The Job Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide administrative and logistical support for assigned peer review panels throughout the review lifecycle.
- Coordinate panel calendars, meetings, reviewer communications, meeting materials, and operational requirements.
- Track reviewer administrative readiness and required documentation and follow up on outstanding items.
- Support reviewer access and use of the Contractor-Owned Contractor-Operated (COCO) peer review system in coordination with system-support personnel.
- Support panel and meeting setup in the peer review system based on approved scientific review requirements.
- Provide real-time operational and technical support during virtual and in-person peer review meetings.
- Coordinate meeting logistics, materials, attendance, schedules, and administrative documentation.
- Track operational tasks and panel readiness and identify issues requiring SRO or system-support attention.
- Support administrative quality checks of panel records and required documentation.
- Support Summary Statement and other post-review production workflows, document coordination, tracking, and quality-control activities while the SRO retains responsibility for scientific accuracy and quality.
- Assist with organization, preparation, dissemination, and maintenance of materials before, during, and after peer review meetings.
- Support repeatable, standardized, and scalable peer review operational processes.
- Coordinate across multiple panels when schedules and workload permit.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree (bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent directly relevant experience may be considered).
- Two or more years of administrative, program-support, meeting-support, research-support, or comparable professional experience.
- Demonstrated ability to manage high volumes of concurrent tasks, deadlines, and detailed information.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication and customer-service skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, virtual meeting platforms, Microsoft SharePoint, and web-based systems.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and respond effectively during time-sensitive peer review periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting scientific peer review, grant review, research administration, or Federal health or science programs.
- Experience supporting virtual and/or in-person scientific meetings.
- Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP), Department of Defense (DoD), National Institutes of Health (NIH), or comparable Federal research-review experience.
- Experience with peer review systems and document-production workflows.
