Role Description

The Pega Certified Senior System Architect (CSSA) is a 12-month fixed-term contract role, based on-site in Portugal, with remote working also considered for candidates based elsewhere in Europe.

The successful candidate will design and implement Pega-based enterprise applications, ensuring alignment with business requirements, architectural principles and technical best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Define system architecture and technical solutions for complex enterprise applications.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into robust technical designs.
• Configure and customise Pega solutions in line with established standards and best practices.
• Oversee integrations between Pega applications, APIs, external systems and enterprise middleware.
• Review and optimise application performance, scalability, security and reliability.
• Lead technical design sessions and provide technical guidance and mentoring to development teams.
• Promote the use of Pega standards, reusable components and development best practices.
• Support testing activities, troubleshoot complex technical issues and ensure the quality of delivered solutions.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of delivery processes, technical standards and overall solution quality.

Qualifications

• Strong systems architecture and systems design skills, with experience designing complex and scalable enterprise solutions.
• Hands-on software development experience, ideally using the Pega platform and related technologies.
• Strong background in systems engineering, including performance tuning, security, scalability and reliability.
• Proven experience integrating Pega applications with APIs, third-party systems and enterprise middleware.
• Pega Certified Senior System Architect (CSSA) certification.
• Ability to translate business requirements into clear technical designs and practical implementation plans.
• Experience leading, mentoring or providing technical guidance to development teams within a consulting or enterprise environment.
• Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Portuguese language skills would be an advantage.
