Show job description
Grind is a coffee brand that lives and breathes London. Since we opened the doors to Shoreditch Grind in 2011, we’ve expanded across the city with vibrant cafes, coffee shops, and trucks - burning the candle at both ends to serve exceptional coffee, food, and cocktails to a killer soundtrack.
Today, we serve millions of cups of coffee across London and the UK each year, and we’ve helped hundreds of thousands of people make better, more sustainable coffee at home. You’ll find our coffee beans, compostable coffee pods and ready-to-drink coffee cans - in supermarkets across the UK and in hotels around the world.

Our locations are the beating heart of Grind. They are high-energy, fast-paced, and incredibly rewarding places to work. But we’re more than just great coffee; we believe coffee can be a force for good. From creating the UK’s first compostable coffee pods and using plastic-free packaging to carbon-free shipping, we are on a dedicated mission to be the world’s most sustainable coffee company. In 2023, we established the Better Coffee Foundation to help undo the environmental damage of the global coffee industry, recovering 43 million pods' worth of ocean-bound plastic in our very first year.
As People Operations Coordinator at Grind, you’ll play a key role in delivering a smooth, consistent and people-focused employee experience across the business.
Working closely with the People Operations Manager and wider People & Culture team, you’ll support across the full employee lifecycle, combining strong People Operations delivery with broader HR generalist responsibilities. From employee queries and manager support through to payroll, policies, HR systems and people data, you’ll help ensure our people processes are practical, compliant and easy to navigate.
This role would suit an experienced People Coordinator or HR Administrator who is ready to take on more ownership, broaden their generalist experience and develop within a fast-paced, evolving People team.

  • Own and continuously improve the end-to-end onboarding experience, ensuring new joiners are set up for success from day one.
  • Identify and suggest improvements to our people processes, making them simpler, clearer, and more scalable over time
  • Act as a first point of contact for employees and managers on day-to-day people queries, providing clear guidance and escalating more complex matters where appropriate.
  • Support employee relations activity, including absence, performance and conduct matters, helping ensure processes are followed consistently and accurately.
  • Support the development and maintenance of people policies, processes and guidance, ensuring documentation remains practical, compliant and up to date.
  • Coordinate payroll inputs, benefits administration and people data, acting as a first point of contact for payroll queries and ensuring information is accurate and submitted on time.
  • Support the ongoing development and administration of Grind’s HRIS, helping improve data quality, system adoption, workflows and the employee experience.
  • Support performance management and engagement processes, including review cycles, surveys and employee feedback activity.
  • Work closely with managers across the business to ensure People processes are understood and applied consistently.
  • Contribute to People & Culture projects helping build scalable and effective ways of working as Grind continues to grow.

You’ll have.
  • Experience in a People Coordinator, HR Coordinator or similar generalist People role.
  • Good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience supporting employee lifecycle processes and day-to-day employee relations activity.
  • Strong HR administration and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail.
