Location: Vancouver, BC (hybrid, 1–2 days a week in office). Remote considered for strong candidates elsewhere in Canada with a preference for West Coast.

Salary: $65,000–$75,000 + 5–10% bonus + equity

About the company

Humans of HR has been engaged by a fast-growing, publicly traded company to find their next People & Culture Specialist.

The business is growing quickly, largely through acquisitions. From its Vancouver head office, the People & Culture team supports around 30 companies and roughly 2,000 employees across sectors like technology and Health. It's a busy, energetic environment where there's always a new project on the go.

The role

This is a hands-on HR role focused on onboarding, benefits administration and the people side of acquisitions. You'll own the employee experience from offer letter to first day, for both regular hires and whole teams joining through M&A.

You'll work closely with the People & Culture leadership on acquisition integrations, and with a team of business partners, specialists and a coordinator. Employee relations and terminations sit with the business partners, so your focus is on getting the details right and making new people feel welcome.

It's a great fit for someone who has been an HR Coordinator or Assistant for a few years and is ready for more ownership. Each specialist also owns an area they're passionate about, so there's real room to grow.

What you'll do

Onboarding and employee lifecycle

  • Run end-to-end onboarding and offboarding for your assigned group of companies
  • Draft offer letters and employment agreements, making sure they line up with provincial employment standards
  • Be the friendly, go-to contact for new hires as they settle in
  • Respond to HR tickets and day-to-day questions, escalating employee relations matters to the business partners

M&A onboarding and integration

  • Partner with P&C leadership on acquisitions, then take the lead on onboarding once a deal closes
  • Coordinate with incoming teams to move employees smoothly into the company's HR systems, benefits and processes

Benefits administration

  • Administer group benefits for roughly 1,500 eligible employees: enrolments, changes and terminations
  • Work with the HRIS and the benefits carrier to keep data accurate, including manual updates for acquired groups
  • This is around 20% of the role and mostly administrative, as enrolment is largely automated

Projects

  • Contribute to people projects such as the Great Place to Work survey and other company-wide initiatives
  • Own a specialist area over time (for example benefits, compensation, learning or HR systems) based on your interests

What you bring

  • 2–4 years in an HR Coordinator, HR Assistant or similar role
  • Solid onboarding experience, ideally in a growing or multi-entity organization
  • Hands-on group benefits administration (enrolments, changes, carrier liaison)
  • Working knowledge of employment standards in BC and other provinces. You don't need every answer, but you know where to find it
  • Experience drafting offer letters and employment agreements
  • Comfort with an HRIS. ADP experience is a nice bonus
  • Clear, warm communication with employees at every level
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle several priorities
  • Curiosity and a genuine interest in growing your HR career through new projects

Nice to have: exposure to M&A integrations, a CPHR designation or progress toward one, or post-secondary education in HR.

What's in it for you

  • Base salary: $65,000–$75,000, depending on experience
  • Bonus: 5–10% of base salary
  • Equity: an annual equity award tied to base salary
  • Employee share purchase plan: contribute up to 5% of your salary and the company matches 50%
  • Vacation: 3 weeks to start
  • Group benefits: 100% employer-paid health, dental
  • Flexibility: hybrid, with 1–2 days a week in the Vancouver office (a bit more during training)
  • Growth: a fast-moving public company where there's always a new project to learn from
