The Basics

Feedback is one of the most valuable things a team can give each other, and one of the hardest to get right. Too generic, too late, or never written down at all. We want to find out how AI can help people give better, more timely feedback, without taking the human out of it. That's where your master thesis comes in.

Giant Swarm is a leading open-source infrastructure management platform used by modern enterprises worldwide. We've been fully remote for 10+ years, which means a lot of our collaboration and feedback happens in writing. That makes us a real-world lab for your research.

Your Job

  • Research the current state of AI-supported feedback in organisations: what works, what doesn't, and where the ethical lines are.

  • Analyse how feedback currently flows at Giant Swarm and where people get stuck.

  • Design and build a working prototype of an AI-based feedback system.

  • Test and evaluate your prototype with real users in our remote team.

  • Treat data privacy, transparency, and trust as core parts of the design, not as an afterthought.

What We Offer

  • A paid master thesis.

  • A real research question with real users and direct access to our People team.

  • Two company supervisors: Anna, our VP People, and one of our engineers, alongside your university supervisor.

  • Insights into how a fully remote, organised company works day to day.

  • Remote work, flexible start date, and flexible duration.

  • Thesis can be written in English or German.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a master's programme in Business Administration, Information Systems, Human Resource Management, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Organisational Psychology or a related field.

  • Strong interest in AI and how it changes the way people work together.

  • You enjoy working with no-code and AI tools.

  • Good analytical skills and experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research methods.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Ability to work independently in a remote team.

  • Location: enrolled in Germany.

Salary Information

Compensation of €1,000 per month for the duration of your thesis.
