A Day in the Life
Medtronic’s Cardiovascular Surgery business is focused on technologies that support patients undergoing advanced cardiac and respiratory care. The Perfusion portfolio includes extracorporeal life support and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) solutions designed to provide temporary cardiopulmonary support in surgical, intensive care, and transport environments. The portfolio includes perfusion systems, oxygenators, cannulae, and integrated ECMO support technologies, including the VitalFlow ECMO platform.This position supports the promotion and sales of the Perfusion portfolio across assigned accounts and clinical stakeholders. The role partners with surgeons, perfusionists, intensive care teams, and hospital decision-makers to expand portfolio adoption and support clinical and business objectives.
This position is based in the Chicago, Illinois territory and is designated as remote/field-based. Regular travel throughout the assigned territory is required, with approximately 50% travel expected.
Job Description field
In this role, you will be responsible for growing market share, driving revenue performance, and supporting customer adoption of Cardiovascular Perfusion and ECLS products within an assigned territory. The position combines strategic account management, consultative selling, clinical education, and cross-functional collaboration to achieve business objectives and support customer needs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Drive territory sales performance by promoting, selling, and supporting the Cardiovascular Perfusion, Blood Management, and ECLS product portfolio.
- Develop and execute territory business plans, quarterly account strategies, and customer engagement plans to achieve revenue and unit objectives.
- Identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities while expanding existing customer relationships within key accounts.
- Build and maintain relationships with cardiac surgeons, perfusionists, ECLS physicians, cardiovascular operating room teams, ECLS coordinators, hospital administrators, and other stakeholders.
- Provide product education, in-service training, and basic clinical support for ECLS and extracorporeal therapies products to support customer adoption and utilization.
- Maintain accurate forecasting, customer activity records, and territory management documentation through customer relationship management (CRM) tools and required reporting processes.
- Collaborate with Clinical Specialists and cross-functional partners to address customer needs, support product implementation, and share market insights.
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and customer feedback to identify growth opportunities and communicate business recommendations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 8+ years, Associate's Degree and 6+ years, or Bachelor's Degree and 4+ years of sales, clinical, or related experience within medical devices, medtech, healthcare, or life sciences.
- Experience selling, supporting, or managing clinical products and technologies within healthcare environments.
- Ability to provide customer education, product training, and clinical support related to technical medical products.
- Experience developing sales forecasts, managing territory objectives, and achieving revenue-based performance goals.
- Ability to travel up to 50% within the assigned territory.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and extracorporeal life support (ECLS) therapies.
- Experience selling to cardiac surgeons, perfusionists, ECLS physicians, and cardiovascular operating room teams.
- Experience supporting products or procedures within the cardiac operating room environment.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing strategic territory growth plans in a healthcare sales environment.
- Prior Medtronic experience or experience supporting highly technical capital equipment, disposable products, or procedural solutions.
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
