Make a difference with Brainkind

Brainkind is a charity dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by brain injuries. Through our specialist rehabilitation services, we support people to rebuild skills, maximise independence and achieve their personal goals.

We are passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care and are looking for talented people who share our commitment to making a difference.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, NMC-registered nurse with a strong background in operational management and service leadership to join our team as a Peripatetic Service Manager.

Covering services across the North East, North West and Scotland, you will provide hands-on operational support, management cover and leadership across multiple locations. You will work alongside service managers to strengthen quality and governance, address operational challenges, improve performance and ensure services deliver safe, effective care.

This is a permanent, remote and field-based role with some home working for administration, planning and reporting. Regular regional travel is essential, with occasional overnight stays required.

If you enjoy variety, thrive on solving problems and want to make a tangible difference across multiple services, this is an opportunity to use your experience where it matters most.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on operational leadership and management support across multiple services.
  • Support service managers to maintain quality, safety, safeguarding and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide management cover and respond to operational challenges as required.
  • Drive service improvements, monitor performance and support the delivery of agreed objectives.
  • Contribute to budget management, workforce planning and effective resource utilisation.
  • Lead and support teams through change, service development and improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to promote excellent outcomes for the people we support.

About you

You will bring:

  • Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Substantial operational and management experience within health and social care, including responsibility for service delivery and team leadership.
  • Experience of supporting services, managing competing priorities and improving performance across different locations.
  • A strong understanding of clinical governance, quality assurance, safeguarding and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience of budget management and operational performance.
  • A Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management for Adult Care, or an equivalent relevant qualification, or a willingness to work towards one where appropriate.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and influence positive change.
  • A full UK driving licence, access to suitable transport and the flexibility to travel extensively across the North East, North West and Scotland, including occasional overnight stays.

What we offer

  • Salary of up to £54,075 per annum, depending on experience.
  • 38 days' annual leave, pro rata.
  • Health Cash Plan.
  • Buy and sell annual leave scheme.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Company pension and group life assurance.
  • Training, development and career progression opportunities.
  • Eye care vouchers, long-service awards and free parking at applicable locations.

We value our people and are committed to supporting their wellbeing, development and success.
