Your Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Permit & Environmental Specialist (m/f/d) to support the permitting and environmental management of a major offshore wind project in Germany. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing for the offshore construction phase, ensuring regulatory compliance, securing and maintaining project approvals, and translating complex permitting requirements into practical project execution strategies.

Work location will be either Hamburg or Bremen with a flexible remote option.

This position requires close collaboration with project teams, regulatory authorities, environmental agencies, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project activities are conducted safely, responsibly, and in accordance with all applicable permits and environmental commitments.

Tasks May Include

• Lead and coordinate permitting and environmental activities throughout the offshore construction preparation and construction phases.
• Develop, maintain, and implement integrated permitting strategies, approval schedules, deliverable plans, and permit registers aligned with project milestones.
• Act as the primary interface with permitting authorities, environmental regulators, and relevant statutory stakeholders.
• Engage proactively with authorities, consultees, NGOs, community representatives, and other stakeholders to support project objectives and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate, support, and manage environmental and permitting workstreams
• Ensure permit conditions and environmental commitments are fully embedded into project requirements, contractor scopes, compliance plans, and operational controls.
• Identify permitting and environmental risks, dependencies, and opportunities, and develop appropriate mitigation measures.
• Assess and communicate potential impacts on schedule, design, procurement, contracting, and construction planning.
• Manage external consultants and subject matter experts, including scope definition, budget control, scheduling, interface management, and quality assurance of deliverables.
• Support project management through clear reporting, documentation, presentations, and recommendations.
  
  

Requirements & Your Expertise

• Proven experience in offshore wind projects, particularly during construction preparation and offshore construction phases.
• Strong understanding of permitting processes, environmental regulations, legal frameworks, and regulatory requirements applicable to offshore construction projects in Germany.
• Extensive experience working with permitting authorities, environmental regulators, and statutory stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to engage constructively with regulators, NGOs, communities, consultants, and other external stakeholders.
• Strong capability to understand and manage complex permit-related issues involving multiple technical disciplines and detailed regulatory requirements.
• Experience identifying and managing permitting and environmental risks within large infrastructure or renewable energy projects.
• Commercial awareness and practical experience managing consultants, contracts, budgets, schedules, and project interfaces.
• Fluent in both German and English, spoken and written.
