Piping Lead Inspector – Offshore HVDC
Location: Remote / Berlin / International Travel
Start: December 2026

The Role
We are looking for an experienced Piping Lead Inspector to support a major European offshore energy infrastructure project.
The role will oversee piping QA/QC, supplier surveillance, FATs, welding/NDT inspection, pressure testing, mechanical completion and commissioning across offshore auxiliary systems. Scope includes water supply, drainage, fuel, cooling water and fire-fighting piping systems.
The initial arrangement will be approximately 40% remote, 10% Berlin and 50% international vendor travel, before moving into a longer-term yard phase in Dubai.
Key Responsibilities
- Review ITPs, welding/NDT documentation, FAT and testing procedures.
- Witness valve FATs, pressure/leak testing and supplier inspections.
- Lead and coordinate piping inspection activities.
- Oversee welding, NDT, material traceability and piping installation quality.
- Manage NCRs, punch lists and corrective actions.
- Support mechanical completion, pre-commissioning and commissioning.
Requirements
- Welding Engineer or Certified Welding Inspector qualification such as IWI or CSWIP 3.1.
- ISO 9712 Level 2 NDT qualification.
- Minimum 8 years' piping QA/QC inspection experience, including 5+ years within offshore or marine projects.
- Previous experience leading inspection teams.
- Strong knowledge of piping fabrication, welding, NDT, pressure testing and commissioning.
- Offshore HVDC, substation, oil & gas topside or shipbuilding experience preferred.
- Fluent English and willingness to travel internationally and work in Dubai during the yard phase.
IWE, API 570, NACE/FROSIO, GWO or BOSIET/HUET qualifications would be advantageous.
