The expected salary range for this position is $123,240.00 - $144,797.60. Employees in specific high cost of labor locations in the United States (such as San Francisco, CA and Seattle, WA) may qualify for a geographic differential. This experienced relationship manager develops, builds, and manages a highly-valuable portfolio of prospective and current donors with a primary focus on planned and legacy giving strategies in order to support Compassion’s long-term ministry sustainability. The manager designs and executes customized engagement strategies that inspire donors toward lifetime and estate-based generosity, aligning their values with Compassion’s mission. At this career level, the incumbent leads complex, long-term revenue strategies and donor journeys, often spanning multiple years, and may coach and oversee the work of other relationship managers. What will you do? Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintain a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully uphold Compassion’s ministry in prayer. Act as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commit to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abide by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Report any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur. Uphold and engage in Compassion's core cultural behaviors. Serve as a leading relationship manager in a professional fundraising environment with particular emphasis on identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of planned and legacy gifts, including bequests, charitable gift annuities, trusts, and other estate-based vehicles. Manage a complex portfolio of high-capacity donors aligned with long-term giving strategies. Design and implement personalized legacy giving strategies that align donors’ philanthropic, financial, and estate planning goals with Compassion’s ministry objectives. Actively advance long-term revenue growth and be accountable for achieving planned giving commitments and pipeline goals. Creatively craft and execute multi-year cultivation strategies and legacy giving campaigns targeted to high-value donors. Focus on deep engagement, family conversations, and values-based philanthropy to secure future commitments and strengthen donor loyalty. Advocate on behalf of Compassion's ministry of Christian child development to current and prospective major and planned giving donors, professional advisors, and other constituents. Build trusted relationships through consultative conversations, estate planning discussions, and values-based engagement via personal visits, calls, and presentations. Develop and manage a long-term pipeline of planned giving prospects, including qualification, tracking, and forecasting of future gift expectancies. Establish timelines and strategies for each constituent to advance toward documented legacy commitments. Collaborate with donors and, when appropriate, their professional advisors (attorneys, financial planners, accountants) to structure gifts that are mutually beneficial and aligned with Compassion’s policies. Serve as a key participant and may lead Compassion tours, project visits, and events, incorporating legacy-focused donor experiences that reinforce long-term impact and ministry vision. Represent Compassion in both small and large group speaking engagements, with an emphasis on inspiring legacy generosity and communicating the eternal impact of planned gifts. Regularly coach and provide expertise to other relationship managers, particularly in integrating planned giving strategies into broader donor engagement and development efforts. What will you bring? Bachelor's Degree in a related field. Seven years of relevant experience working in fundraising, planned giving, charitable gift planning, estate planning, or a related field. Demonstrated experience in cultivating and securing planned or deferred gifts, or transferable experience in financial planning, estate planning, or complex gift strategy development. Certification from a nationally or internationally recognized organization in a related field (e.g., CFRE, CAP®, or similar) is preferred. Equivalent education, training and/or certification may be substituted for experience and education shown above. Will you travel? Yes, you may be required to travel up to 50% of normal schedule.
