As they continue to modernise their managed services and SaaS offerings, they're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help design and build the next generation of Kubernetes-native platform automation.

About the Role

The Role As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll play a key role in developing production-grade software that automates the provisioning, management, scaling, and operation of Kubernetes-based platforms. Working closely with Platform Architects, SREs, DevOps Engineers, and Cloud Engineering teams, you'll design and develop robust software solutions that improve reliability, reduce operational risk, and drive platform innovation. This is a hands-on engineering role combining software development and cloud engineering, with a strong focus on Go, Kubernetes, Terraform, and automation.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain Kubernetes Operators, Controllers and Custom Resources using Go
• Develop automation for platform provisioning, upgrades, recovery, scaling and operational workflows
• Create high-quality, testable, and maintainable software following modern engineering best practices
• Develop CI/CD pipelines and improve software delivery processes
• Work extensively with Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm and GitOps tooling
• Design reliable and resilient distributed systems capable of managing complex workloads
• Improve platform security, reliability, observability and operational readiness
• Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver scalable cloud-native solutions
• Participate in architecture discussions and technical design reviews
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards and best practices

Required Skills

• Strong commercial experience developing software in Go (Golang)
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies
• Experience developing Kubernetes Operators, Controllers, CRDs or platform automation tooling
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes APIs, reconciliation loops and controller patterns
• Commercial experience with Terraform
• Knowledge of DevOps, Platform Engineering, SRE or Infrastructure Automation practices
• Experience working in Agile software development environments
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and software design principles
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
• Excellent Linux, containerisation and troubleshooting skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Skills

• Operator SDK, Kubebuilder, controller-runtime or client-go
• Helm, ArgoCD, Flux or GitOps methodologies
• AWS, Azure or GCP experience
• Prometheus, Grafana, Loki or similar observability tools
• Service Mesh technologies such as Istio, Linkerd or Cilium
• Security-focused Kubernetes engineering
• Experience working within highly regulated environments
