Job Description
Platform Engineer
Build the Platform. Automate at Scale.
Are you passionate about building reliable, scalable cloud platforms and eliminating operational complexity through automation? Do you believe in infrastructure as code, modern DevOps practices, and creating platforms that empower engineering teams to deliver with confidence? We’re looking for a Platform Engineer to help build, optimize, and maintain the cloud platform technologies that support our applications and services.
The Opportunity
As a Platform Engineer, you’ll help design, implement, and evolve the platforms that power our cloud environments. You’ll collaborate with engineering and cloud operations teams to improve platform reliability, streamline deployments, and enable scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure.
You’ll work across modern platform technologies, including Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and Ansible, while applying GitOps, automation, and CI/CD best practices. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, improving operational efficiency, and building adaptable platforms that meet evolving business and application needs.
Your Mission-Critical Responsibilities
Platform Architecture & Engineering: Design, implement, and maintain scalable cloud platform solutions using modern architecture principles and infrastructure automation.
Infrastructure as Code & Automation: Apply automation and configuration management practices to improve platform consistency, repeatability, and operational efficiency.
Containerization & Orchestration: Support and manage containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes, enabling reliable deployment and operation of applications and microservices.
CI/CD & GitOps: Develop, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, incorporating version control and GitOps practices to support consistent, reliable deployments.
Platform Reliability & Performance: Monitor platform health, performance, availability, and redundancy. Identify opportunities to improve resilience, stability, and scalability.
Cloud Operations Collaboration: Partner with cloud operations and application engineering teams to understand application requirements and ensure platform capabilities align with workload needs.
Security & Risk Management: Implement and maintain platform security practices and controls to help protect systems, applications, and sensitive data.
Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement: Investigate platform issues, perform system debugging, and resolve complex technical problems while identifying opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain clear documentation of platform architecture, configurations, operational procedures, and engineering practices.
Technology Evolution: Stay current with emerging cloud-native technologies, DevOps practices, and platform engineering trends to continually improve platform capabilities.
What You Bring to the Team
The Experience: Proven experience in platform engineering, DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or a related software engineering role.
The Platform Mindset: A solid understanding of cloud technologies, modern platform architectures, and the principles behind building scalable, reliable infrastructure.
The Automation Toolkit: Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages and tools such as Python, Bash, Ansible, and Groovy.
The Container Foundation: Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization, orchestration, and application deployment.
The Delivery Pipeline: Understanding of CI/CD methodologies and experience with pipeline automation tools such as Jenkins or Travis CI.
The GitOps Approach: A solid understanding of GitOps principles and version-controlled approaches to managing infrastructure and platform configurations.
The Infrastructure Fundamentals: Knowledge of networking concepts and services, including DNS, load balancing, and firewalls.
The Problem Solver: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to investigate complex issues and develop practical, sustainable solutions.
The Technical Foundation: A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Extra Credit (The Nice-to-Haves)
Avaya Platform Experience: Familiarity with the Avaya Aura platform and its supporting technologies.
Infrastructure Automation: Experience using Terraform and Ansible to provision, configure, and manage infrastructure.
Cloud-Native Engineering: Experience supporting distributed applications, microservices, and highly available platform environments.
Operational Excellence: A track record of improving platform reliability, reducing manual effort, and streamlining engineering workflows through automation.
Why Join Us?
Modern Platform Technologies: Work with cloud-native tools and practices, including Kubernetes, Docker, infrastructure as code, GitOps, and CI/CD.
Meaningful Engineering Challenges: Help solve complex platform, automation, scalability, and reliability challenges.
Collaborative Engineering: Partner with cloud operations and application engineering teams to deliver platform capabilities that support business and customer needs.
Continuous Innovation: Contribute to the evolution of platform engineering practices and help build more efficient, resilient, and adaptable infrastructure.
