Plumbing Estimator & Takeoff Specialist

Preferred Plumbing is seeking an experienced Remote Plumbing Estimator / Takeoff Specialist to join our growing team. The ideal candidate has extensive experience reading construction plans, performing accurate plumbing takeoffs, and preparing detailed proposals for both commercial and residential projects.

You will be responsible for taking a project from a complete set of construction drawings to a polished, accurate proposal delivered to the customer.

• Review architectural, plumbing, and mechanical construction drawings.
• Perform accurate plumbing takeoffs for commercial and residential projects.
• Prepare detailed material and labor estimates.
• Build professional proposals and submit them to customers in a timely manner.
• Communicate directly with clients to answer questions, clarify scope, and gather missing information.
• Coordinate with vendors to obtain pricing and order plumbing fixtures and equipment.
• Compare subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure competitive bids.
• Identify missing information, conflicts, or discrepancies within project plans.
• Maintain organized project files and estimating documentation.
• Work closely with project managers and field personnel to ensure smooth project handoff after award.

• Required: Proven experience performing plumbing takeoffs and estimating.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and plumbing plans.
• Experience estimating both commercial and residential plumbing projects.
• Strong understanding of plumbing materials, fixtures, equipment, and installation methods.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates while meeting deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Experience with estimating software such as FastPIPE, Trimble, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Stack, or similar is preferred.

• Experience ordering fixtures and materials from plumbing suppliers.
• Familiarity with plumbing codes and construction practices.
• Experience working remotely in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of value engineering and cost-saving alternatives.

• Reviewing project documents
• Completing accurate takeoffs
• Pricing labor and materials
• Ordering and coordinating fixtures with vendors
• Communicating with customers and suppliers
• Delivering professional, accurate proposals on schedule
