POSITION PURPOSE:
The function of the PMHNP is to independently provide psychiatric and substance use services. The PMHNP goal is to assist in ensuring all clinical programs are safe and appropriate to the clients’ specific issues. PMHNP will direct and coordinate psychiatric services.
POSITION PURPOSE SPECIFIC TO BISHOP HEALTH/GUARDIAN VIRTUAL:
The function of the PMHNP is to independently provide psychiatric and substance use services. The PMHNP goal is to assist in ensuring all clinical programs are safe and appropriate to the clients’ specific issues. PMHNP will direct and coordinate psychiatric services and ensure all clinical programs are appropriate to the clients’ specific issues, medical history, and diagnoses, medication monitoring for clients in need of MAT services and psychotropic medication. The PMHNP will provide medical services and care in coordination with the Medical Director and the interdisciplinary team, while making reasonable accommodations to ensure clients are as safe and comfortable as possible during their stay. The PMHNP will assess each client in the virtual program and at Bishop Health Florida to determine a diagnosis, if psychotropic medications are necessary and prescribe and monitor medications as needed.
Qualifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Graduation from an Advanced Practice Master of Science in Nursing program or completion of a formal Advanced Practice education program
Current (five-years) of no felonies or substance abuse convictions.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of one year in a psychiatric care setting.
Prior detoxification experience required
LICENSURE/ CERTIFICATION
Current Licensed PMHNP with a valid unencumbered license to practice medicine in the State of Practice in good standing. This physician shall be a member in good standing in the medical community.
Obtain a CAQH and/or NPI within two weeks of start date OR obtain within two weeks of receipt date if licensure is received after start date.
Bishop Health/Guardian Virtual Additional Requirement:
It is expected that PMHNP will commit to applying for licensure in several of the states that the Virtual Program operates in. Guardian Recovery supports staff gaining multistate licensure by reimbursing for licensure fees.
KNOWLEDGE AND TRAINING REQUIRED AT TIME OF HIRE:
- Knowledge and competency in problem solving, stress management, ethics, and team building.
- Knowledge of mental disorder diagnoses that includes:
- Dual diagnoses and their physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual impact on the individual.
- Ability to determine if a medical emergency exists and to take appropriate action, when necessary.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures
- Knowledge of Federal, State and Municipal laws and/or regulations that regulate the treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction, including: Confidentiality, Patient Rights, Professional Code of Ethics, Discrimination
- Knowledge of airborne and blood borne pathogens (TB, HIV, AIDS, HB) and risk reduction methodologies and the use universal precautions.
- Flexibility of adapt to schedule changes and assumption of responsibilities not delineated in the job description which are related to work as a member of a treatment team.

A commitment to continuing education that supports learning new techniques and pharmaceutical interventions that support improved outcomes for our clients enrolled in the Virtual Program and at Bishop Health Florida.
SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION:
1. Perform complete history, psychiatric and/or physical examination to each new client within timelines stipulated in the facility policy and procedure manual and in accordance with state licensing standards.
2. Assist the physician in providing medical protocols.
3. Supervise interns
4. Make recommendations for follow-up services that reflect the findings or risk factors discovered during medical assessments.
5. Ensure clients are referred to specialists when the providers of our treatment facility cannot meet their medical needs.
6. Assist in monitoring and ensuring the provision of all prescribed drugs and medically necessary pharmaceutical services.
7. Assist in ensuring that drug utilization reviews are appropriately conducted and documented as outlined in the policy and procedure manual and to specifically indicate the use/do not use abbreviations list and look alike/sound alike medications.
8. Assist in implementing and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure the clients' right to confidentiality of medical information.
9. Maintain procedures for monitoring the coordination of care provided to clients, including all medically necessary services delivered both within and outside the treatment agency.
10. Demonstrate consistent professional behavior, ethical practice, and commitment to patient-centered care in all interactions and organizational activities.
11. Provide care that is effective, evidence-based, and safe.
12. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members using respectful, clear approaches.
13. Treat all patients equitably, without discrimination based on race, gender, socioeconomic status, or other factors.

15. Attend scheduled triage and clinical meetings, contribute relevant insights, and participate actively.

19. Complete accurate, comprehensive, and timely documentation of all client encounters on the same day

21. Maintains current DEA registration and complies with all requirements for controlled substances.
22. Adhere to policies for secure handling and documentation of stock medications.
23. Conduct comprehensive daily morning rounds in detox/residential units.
24. Communicate AM rounds exception in advance and obtain approval for alternative timing.
25. Prioritize organizational duties and commitments above external employment.
26. Communicate proactively about conflicts and seek approval for exceptions.
27. Participates constructively in peer review, providing objective feedback and engaging in quality improvement.
28. Accept feedback professionally and implement recommendations, maintaining confidentiality.
29. Accept reassignment in cases such as conflict of interest, workload management and specialty specific expertise while maintaining consistent quality standards.
30. Protect the privacy of all client information in accordance with GRNH, LLC’s privacy policies, procedures, and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with general principle of professionalism as a healthcare provider. Failure to comply with the company’s policies and procedures on client privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
31. May access protected health information (PHI) and other patent information only to the extent that it is necessary to complete your job duties. The incumbent may only share such information with those who have specific client information you have in your possession to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other GRNH, LLC operations.
32. Expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding GRNH, LLC’s policies and procedures on client privacy and any observed practices in violation of the policy to their supervisor.
33. Perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities Specific to Bishop Health/Guardian Virtual

5. Complete necessary documentation in a timely manner (The Guardian Recovery policy is documentation is completed the same day of services rendered)
6. Attend Interdisciplinary Team Meetings and/or Triage Meetings as needed. (Participate at least one time weekly in the clinical meeting to support improved client services and outcomes and to gain insight and feedback from the clinical team).
7. Ensure clients are referred to specialists when the medical needs cannot be met by the providers of our treatment facility.
8. Assist in monitoring and ensuring the provision of all prescribed drugs and medically necessary pharmaceutical services.
9. Assist in ensuring that drug utilization reviews are appropriately conducted and documented as outlined in the policy and procedure manual and to specifically indicate the use/do not use abbreviations list and look alike/sound alike medications.

14. Maintain procedures for monitoring the coordination of care provided to clients, including all medically necessary services delivered both within and outside the treatment agency.
15. Work within scope of practice.
16. Ensure that the Guardian Recovery Philosophy is a part of PMHNP’s practice in serving our virtual clients.
