Policy Campaigns Associate

We’re looking for a Policy Campaigns Associate! Worth Rises seeks a dynamic Policy Campaigns Associate (exempt) to support Worth Rises’ policy campaigns across the country. This individual should have experience working in grassroots organizing and supporting legislative campaigns. They should be a high-level thinker and doer able to navigate a variety of environments with skill and integrity. The Policy and Campaigns Associate will report to the Director of Policy Campaigns & Government Affairs and help execute our policy campaign strategy. Worth Rises is a non-profit advocacy organization dedicated to dismantling the prison industry and ending the exploitation of those it touches. Partnering with directly impacted people, we work to expose the commercialization of the criminal legal system and organize and advocate to protect the economic resources extracted from affected communities and strip the prison industry of its power. Key Results (Year One) Develop and maintain a comprehensive campaign tracker and community engagement database for our policy campaigns. Build coalitions to support each of Worth Rises’ policy campaigns, with at least five key partners in each. Build a rapid response network of partners and directly impacted communities in priority states and effective engagement mechanism. Organize at least two successful lobby days, involving at least ten legislative office meetings for each. Major Responsibilities Assist the Director of Policy Campaigns & Government Affairs in executing the organization’s policy campaign strategy. Support policy campaigns, building coalitions, facilitating stakeholder meetings, conducting research, monitoring legislative calendars, developing collateral (e.g., letters, petitions, fact sheets, talking points, etc.), advocating with decision makers, planning direct actions, coordinating events, supporting communications, and tracking progress. Monitor bill movement, hearings, and other legislative activity across assigned states, maintaining tracking systems and providing timely updates to the team. Coordinate coalition efforts, partner engagement, and logistics in support of state campaigns. Build and sustain strong relationships with advocacy partners, stakeholders, and directly impacted individuals in both active and past campaign states to support implementation. Develop and manage contact databases and outreach systems for community partnerships to enable consistent engagement and mobilization for campaign actions. Implement base-building strategies in directly impacted communities to elevate their voices and center their leadership, analysis, and stories. Help prepare testimony, briefs, and advocacy materials, including letters, petitions, fact sheets, and talking points, and support campaign events, actions, and content development. Work across Policy, Corporate, and Narrative teams to streamline coordination and project management. Critical Factors for Success This role requires a motivated self-starter who takes initiative, consistently delivers high-quality work, is an excellent project manager, is a proactive and innovative problem-solver, appreciates direct feedback, and has the following: At least two years of professional experience providing high-quality support to legislative campaigns. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple campaigns and projects at once with efficiency, skill, and calm. Demonstrated ability to build trusted working relationships with partners and community members, which includes exhibiting reliability, delegating effectively, and practicing empathy. Strong oral and written communication skills. Regular and disciplined practice of active listening, seeking clarification, and note taking. Direct impact by the prison industry or experience working with directly impacted communities, strongly preferred. Working understanding of the prison industry or strong interest in learning. Willingness to travel as required. Compensation and Benefits The annual salary for the Policy Campaigns Associate is $72,000. Worth Rises offers a generous compensation package, including comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, 20 days of vacation time, ten days of personal/sick leave, and three days of bereavement leave in addition to 11 holidays and winter break.
