Hiring: Funding Processing Centre Advisor

Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Remote

Duration: November 2, 2026 – March 31, 2027 (possibility to extend)

Hourly Rate: $25/hour - $30/hour (based on experience)

Overview

We are seeking detail-oriented, analytical, and client-focused professionals to join our team as Post-Payment Verification Analysts.


In this role, you will help ensure the accuracy, accountability, and integrity of government-funded childcare programs by reviewing funding claims, supporting documentation, and program information. You will assess information against program requirements, identify discrepancies, analyze financial and operational data, and contribute to decisions that support program compliance and accountability.


The successful candidate will be comfortable working with large volumes of information, interpreting policies and procedures, communicating with stakeholders, and preparing clear and accurate documentation, findings, and recommendations.


This role is well suited to candidates with experience in program administration, data analysis, payment verification, financial review, grants administration, benefits administration, compliance-related activities, or other environments requiring the review and assessment of complex information.


Responsibilities:

  • Review funding claims and supporting documentation to assess accuracy, completeness, and compliance with program requirements.
  • Analyze financial, operational, and program information to identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, or potential issues requiring further review.
  • Interpret and apply legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines, funding agreements, and program requirements.
  • Validate information received from operators and stakeholders using multiple information sources and supporting documentation.
  • Calculate adjustments, recoveries, overpayments, or other financial impacts where required.
  • Prepare correspondence, summaries, reports, findings, recommendations, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records, working papers, and electronic files.
  • Communicate professionally with operators and stakeholders regarding documentation requirements, findings, and review outcomes.
  • Support the resolution of discrepancies and escalate complex issues when appropriate.
  • Identify recurring issues, trends, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Participate in risk-based review and monitoring activities that support program accountability.


Responsible for delivering the following services:

  • The Application Help Desk Analyst provides application support to stakeholders.
  • May be responsible and accountable for resolving data discrepancies related to student data within Stakeholder Registry (SHR).
  • Utilizes Help Desk software to log all incoming calls into the appropriate categories, retrieve the correct response, and if required, forwards pending inquiries to the next level of expert support.
  • Participate in related projects as required.
  • Develop and maintain documentation as required.
  • Ensures all Help Desk related policy, process and procedures are followed to track and monitor all incoming calls.
  • Improves operations efficiency and effectiveness by identifying and recommending changes and enhancements.
  • Contact ministry resources to resolve problems and investigate alternatives for resolution, and recommends solutions for implementing business process and systems changes.
  • May co-ordinate Help Desk related activities that require communications to the external stakeholders with business areas
  • Cross trains within Help Desk environment as required.


Must Haves:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 3+ years working knowledge of the MS office suite specifically Excel and Outlook, including applying formulas, and sorting and filtering spreadsheets containing thousands of rows
  • 3+ years’ experience with accurate data processing and/or data entry
  • 1+ years’ experience with business writing, communication and documentation.
  • 3+ years’ experience working in government or a highly regulated industry with complex policy and governance requirements.
  • 3+ years’ experience working with clients/stakeholders to identify, gather, document, and analyze business data and process requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify discrepancies and assess information from multiple sources.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience conducting compliance reviews, monitoring activities, quality assurance reviews, or similar verification activities.
  • Experience calculating recoveries, adjustments, overpayments, or other financial impacts.
  • Experience with case management systems, databases, records-management systems, or similar business applications.
  • Experience participating in risk-based review, monitoring, assessment, or audit-related activities


Highly Desired Skills:

  • Relevant post-secondary education in the areas of business administration, accounting or finance, Acceptable education includes degrees, diplomas and certificates.
  • 3+ years’ experience with and knowledge of financial reporting ensuring the accuracy and reliability of financial statements and using Microsoft Excel.
  • 1 year experience within a Canadian Public Sector organization.
  • 1 year experience working in the area of childcare grant funding programs in Alberta.
