We are looking for a post-secondary Events Management student to join our Team! The Post-Secondary Placement student will assist in event planning, delivery, directing teams and vendors to ensure the completion of the event agenda and respond to last minute adjustments. They will be responsible for coordination of on-site meetings and events including advising on space booking, detailing event agendas, communicating with vendors, food and beverage management, set-ups, staffing, safety planning and post-event reporting. They will also help raise funds for various programs and initiatives that will help decrease stigma associated with mental illness & addictions. Status: Fall 2026 unpaid Student Placement, 20hrs/week for a duration of 4 to 6 months starting in September 2026. Salary: Unpaid Placement Location: This position is based out of our 314- 7700 Hurontario St., Brampton office. Although we operate within a hybrid workplace model, staff are required to have on-site and/or community presence as per program and client needs. What you will do: Help with the stages to plan, execute, and deliver on CMHA events including event agenda, site preparation, catering, registration, entertainment, and marketing materials Consider potential risks to the successful execution of the event; proactively develop contingency plans when required Assist with the annual United Way Greater Toronto campaign through the development of new ideas, planning, and execution Investigate new ways to lower event costs of events Assist in facilitating CMHA fundraising activities, including tracking and post-grant reporting Facilitate plans for securing corporate sponsorships for ongoing activities and events Help design and implement stewardship and recognition strategies which will ensure all donors receive correspondence, reports and updates in a timely manner Peel Dufferin Branch Help edit, and coordinate submissions of fund development and grant writing initiatives including assisting with conceptualizing, designing, and preparing new program proposals and related reports, and writing and submitting grant proposals and funding applications Other duties, as assigned This posting description indicates the key responsibilities and core functions of the position. What you need to Join our Team: Current enrolled in a university/college student pursuing Events management or equivalent Relevant full-scope event planning experience which includes planning, executing, and delivering on large scale, high attendee events. Experience working with non-profits or social services agencies an asset Fundraising and donor relations experience is an asset. Excellent communication and organizational skills, able to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent time management skills Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to approach, listen, build trust, and communicate across diverse cultures and intersectionality. Willingness to continually improve understanding around cultural competence. Openness to operate from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, 2SLGBTQ+ affirming and intersectional framework. Willingness to learn and apply practical understanding of different elements of diversity, such as gender identity/expression, race/cultural background, religion, sexual orientation, disability, immigration and precarious status, family status, etc. Fluency in a second language, including ASL (American Sign Language) is considered an asset. Ability to travel within and around Peel Region and Dufferin County. A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check) report.
