Job Description

This is a remote position.

The Practice Management Implementation Specialist plays a critical role in supporting our New York Customers. This includes gathering requirements, writing specifications, and testing scheduling, billing, clinical, and reporting features tailored to the unique needs of behavioral health providers. You will work closely with customers and the development team to ensure requests are captured accurately and delivered successfully.

This role is well suited for someone who works carefully within defined standards, documents work thoroughly, and can move steadily between customer needs, system requirements, and implementation follow-through.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support customer requests for NY EHRs through discovery, requirements gathering, specification, testing, and delivery.
  • Participate in discovery sessions with customer stakeholders and document current-state workflows, requirements, and open questions.
  • Write functional specifications for assigned features, including business rules, worked examples, and edge cases.
  • Apply technical and operational knowledge to perform software and integration testing of implemented solutions.
  • Build and execute test cases for newly implemented features, using realistic data across multiple scenarios.
  • Resolve identified issues requiring changes to implemented software applications and solutions.
  • Document defects and evidence clearly, and drive them to closure.
  • Verify data flow and mapping between EHR platforms to confirm information transfers correctly.
  • Work closely with the development team in gathering and reviewing customer feedback and requirements.
  • Prepare customer-facing documentation, including user guides, quick-reference sheets, and release notes.
  • Deliver end-user training and support during and after the implementation process.
  • Maintain the request log and provide routine status updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Handle protected health information in accordance with HIPAA and company policy.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% as needed.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Behavioral Health, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in a business analyst, QA analyst, implementation, or application-support role for customer-facing software, preferably in behavioral health or human services settings.
  • Ability to gather detailed requirements and translate them into clear, structured functional specifications
  • Strong testing discipline, including deriving test cases from requirements and documenting results with supporting evidence
  • Comfort working within regulated environments that require accuracy, documentation, and adherence to established standards
  • Ability to manage multiple requests and workstreams while maintaining follow-through and quality
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for customer sessions, internal coordination, documentation, and training
  • Sound problem-solving skills with a practical, methodical approach to issue resolution
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with customers, developers, and internal stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of healthcare workflows, revenue-cycle concepts, and front-office operations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with behavioral health EHR platforms.
  • Working familiarity with New York behavioral-health programs and payment methodologies, including NY Medicaid, OMH/OASAS, APG, CCBHC PPS and OTP.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and other behavioral health compliance standards.
  • Relevant certifications such as CBAP/CCBA, CSPO/CSM, PMP, or ISTQB/CSTE.
