Principal AI Consultant | Contract | Up to £700/day Outside IR35

A leading financial institution is expanding its AI delivery capabilities and is looking for a Principal-level specialist to help shape and deliver its next generation of enterprise AI solutions.

The programme will initially focus on AI-powered trading recommendations, using client behaviour and market predictions to inform trading decisions. You'll have ownership of the technical direction, working closely with business stakeholders and engineering teams to take ideas from initial definition through to approved production systems.

A major part of the challenge is ensuring solutions meet the governance, validation and model-risk requirements of a regulated financial environment, alongside delivering hands-on technical work.

Key requirements:

• 10+ years of commercial engineering or data science experience.
• Demonstrable experience taking commercial AI/ML systems into production.
• Strong Python, machine learning and feature engineering expertise.
• Experience with LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows and AI orchestration.
• Proven experience navigating model validation, explainability, monitoring, audit trails and enterprise governance.
• Ability to lead technical decisions, shape ambiguous requirements and engage with senior stakeholders.

Capital markets, trading or Tier-1 banking experience would be a strong advantage.

Contract details:

• Up to £700/day Outside IR35
• 12-month contract
• Hybrid working, 2 days per week in Central London
• ASAP start, with a maximum one-month notice period
