Shape a Strategic European Digital Identity Initiative

We are looking for an experienced Principal Solution Architect to support a strategic European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDIW) initiative in Romania.

This is a senior advisory engagement combining solution architecture, digital identity expertise and stakeholder engagement. You will work across public-sector organisations, financial institutions, technology partners and other stakeholders, contributing to the development of a complex digital identity ecosystem.

What You'll Do

• Provide architectural leadership across digital identity, authentication, credential management, trust services, security and enterprise integration.
• Participate in technical workshops, architecture forums and discussions with public-sector and programme stakeholders.
• Review solution architectures, implementation approaches, technical standards and technology roadmaps.
• Support alignment with eIDAS 2.0, EUDIW and the EUDI Architecture and Reference Framework (ARF).
• Define and assess integration approaches across government systems, wallet providers, financial institutions and technology partners.
• Review API frameworks, identity federation models, authentication services, secure data exchange and credential lifecycle solutions.
• Advise stakeholders on security, privacy, identity assurance and regulatory alignment.
• Support architecture governance and technical decision-making across a complex multi-stakeholder programme.
• Present architectural recommendations to technical and senior stakeholder audiences.

What We're Looking For

✔ 12+ years of experience in Solution Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, Systems Integration, Digital Transformation or Technology Consulting.

✔ Experience operating as a Lead Architect, Principal Architect, Technical Advisor or Architecture Authority.

✔ Strong expertise in digital identity, electronic identity, authentication, trusted credentials, identity verification and trust services.

✔ Experience with eIDAS 2.0, EUDIW, EUDI ARF or comparable digital identity frameworks.

✔ Strong knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), SAML, PKI, digital signatures, encryption and IAM.

✔ Experience with secure integration, API-led architectures, distributed systems and cloud/hybrid environments.

✔ Experience supporting government, public-sector, national infrastructure or highly regulated programmes.

✔ Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.

✔ Fluent Romanian and English.

⭐ Sovereign or government cloud environments

⭐ TOGAF, CISSP, Azure Solutions Architect or AWS Solutions Architect certifications

Engagement Model

This is a fractional consulting engagement, expected to require approximately 1–2 weeks per month over an initial 6–12 month period.

The role is primarily remote from Romania, with travel required for workshops and stakeholder sessions. Allocation may evolve as the programme develops.

Expected start: early to mid-October 2026.
