About the role
bp's Wells Digital team delivers the digital products, platforms and services that support well planning, drilling, completions, interventions and well integrity activities across our global operations. We are seeking an experienced Delivery Manager to lead a portfolio of digital products and services supporting the Wells business. This senior leadership role combines business engagement, delivery governance, portfolio management and people leadership.
You will be the single point of contact for the Wells business, ensuring priorities are translated into successful delivery outcomes. You will also champion and role model consistent use of the Digital Delivery Project Management Process across the Wells Digital portfolio. Working across bp employees, suppliers and global stakeholders, you will lead strategic initiatives that improve business performance and strengthen digital delivery across Wells, including Agentic New Well Delivery — one of bp Upstream's top technology priorities.
What you will do
Be the single point of contact for the Wells business
- Act as the single point of contact for Wells stakeholders across the digital delivery portfolio.
- Build trusted relationships with Wells leaders and teams, developing a strong understanding of business priorities, challenges and opportunities.
- Translate business demand into clear delivery plans, priorities and investment recommendations.
- Provide a clear and transparent view of delivery status, risks, dependencies and value realization.
- Drive alignment between Wells business objectives, product roadmaps and delivery activities.
Lead the Wells Digital delivery portfolio
- Own delivery across a portfolio of Wells Digital products, platforms and services.
- Lead priority technology initiatives, including Agentic New Well Delivery, one of bp Upstream's top technology priorities.
- Balance demand, capacity, funding and delivery risk across multiple initiatives.
- Coordinate delivery across Product Managers, engineers, architects, operations teams and suppliers.
- Provide portfolio-level governance, performance oversight and reporting.
Champion the Digital Delivery Project Management Process
- Follow and role model the consistent use of bp's Digital Delivery Project Management Process across all Wells Digital initiatives.
- Ensure projects and programmes meet required governance, assurance, stage gate and control expectations.
- Set clear expectations for delivery discipline, accountability and evidence-based decision making.
- Coach Team and suppliers in the effective application of bp delivery standards.
- Continuously improve delivery quality, predictability and governance maturity across the portfolio.
Lead supplier and partner performance
- Manage strategic relationships with delivery partners and suppliers.
- Drive accountability for cost, schedule, quality and delivery outcomes.
- Ensure supplier teams operate as an integrated part of the Wells Digital organization.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, capability and value from external partners.
Develop people and delivery capability
- Lead, coach and mentor Team.
- Create an inclusive, high-performing culture with clear ownership and accountability.
- Support talent development, capability building and succession planning.
- Strengthen delivery management practices across Wells Digital.
What you will need to be successful - Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience leading complex software delivery portfolios across both purchased and internally developed solutions, with accountability for delivery outcomes.
- Proven experience delivering AI-enabled solutions into operational use, including business adoption, responsible implementation and measurable outcomes.
- Experience working with technology providers that use a Forward Deployed Engineer or similar embedded delivery model to translate business problems into rapidly delivered solutions.
- Experience delivering digital solutions in Wells or a comparable safety-critical operational domain; direct Wells experience is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of UDP and Wells and Subsurface enterprise architecture and data structures, or demonstrated ability to learn comparable enterprise platforms and architectures quickly.
- Proven experience translating business priorities into clear delivery outcomes, defining success measures, tracking benefits and articulating realised value.
- Strong experience applying digital delivery governance, including assurance, stage gates, risk and dependency management, delivery controls and evidence-based decision-making.
- Strong commercial acumen, with proven accountability for budgets, business cases, investment decisions, supplier performance and value realisation.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior business and technology leaders, communicate complex delivery issues clearly, influence decisions and align stakeholders with competing priorities.
- Experience identifying, assessing and addressing digital security, data privacy and operational risks throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary, geographically distributed teams across employees, suppliers and delivery partners, with clear accountability for performance and outcomes.

Future Location Notice: This role will start in Sunbury, London. bp has announced a planned office move to Timber Square, London, with all positions currently advertised in Sunbury, including this one, expected to relocate around Q4 2027-Q1 2028.
